Just in case you're taking requests: Progressive Rock would be a great addition. Thanks.

... and Dream Theater
I'd argue that's more in the progressive metal genre and old-school prog rock fans may not like that. However, that could someday allow a progressive metal station too with Dream Theater, Queensr˙che, Devin Townsend Project, Fates Warning, Opeth, Between The Buried And Me, Tool, etc.
There's a fine line here though, as both progressive rock and progressive metal can exist within an artist's/band's discography. One example would be Porcupine Tree, depending on which era of the band is focused on. Albums including and before Lightbulb Sun I'd say would mostly fall under the progressive rock label (and also psychedelic rock label on their earliest albums + Voyage 34), but albums including and after In Absentia to their last album The Incident would fall under the progressive metal label. Another example would be Opeth which started out as a progressive (death) metal band, then over time because more of a progressive rock band as time passed right up to their last couple studio albums. I'd argue their album Damnation (which is a FANTASTIC album) would fit perfectly under a progressive rock station, especially the song Windowpane.

If you would upload a few playlists of about 20 to 50 tracks each, we'll make a radio station. Requires build 70.
Please send me the names of the playlists and the links.
Thanks.

Prog Radio and Proggy by Thunderfingers?
-
If it says Prog, it's Prog. I guess. But, Awesome was wanting a Prog Station and I think it's a great idea, so, I added some more Prog to help the idea along. If you still need more to make that happen, let me know and I'll add even more.
-
If you'll keep a list of the prog playlists here, we'll try to add a station.
-
Ok. Mine are Essential Prog 1 & 2, Prog Radio and Proggy. I know there are quite a few others. I'll find them and list what I find. I can add quite a bit more as well.

Would it work to use these lists and shuffle them? We can't play full albums under the license we have.
-
Other than the license issue, not sure how the Radio stations are set up. DO they just sort of cycle through different playlists or are they curated? Shuffling through different songs in different playlists would be the ideal. If that's even possible. Otherwise, not using the single album playlists would have to be the answer. Most are assorted songs or single artist playlists. Only a few are full album folders.
-
A radio station is a master playlist of any number of uploaded playlists. It can be shuffled or not.
-
Then my recommendation would be to shuffle them. That would give the greatest variety and would have something for everyone within a few songs of each other. I'm looking through some of them now and there are literally days worth of good music there without much repetition during any given day if shuffled.

I also have Fates Warning - ProgPower USA V Set List and Shadow Gallery - Tyranny Story up there, but they're more Progressive Metal. In fact, it can be argued that Fates Warning started the Prog Metal genre as it is known today.
-
I'll upload one I have too. Progressive Rockers.
-
I'm uploading more now using Smartlists. We should have a huge selection of material with all that's already there and what we're adding now. THis is gonna be great!
-
Added Playlist Prog For The Masses & Prog For The Masses 2.
-
Just uploaded a Riverside playlist. Progressive Metal, but it's really atmospheric if you've never heard it.
-
Uploaded, but doesn't show in new playlists. It is under my handle.
-
It's A Beautiful Day; White Bird, Girl With No Eyes, Hot Summer Day.
-
Sorry I'm a bit confused here.
Are we talking about some servers that is streaming music?
-
Cloudplay. It's on our wiki.

Will look into it, thanks

It should be a priority! I third it!

I've got one (michaeljalves) up on Cloudplay called Profoundly Prog that has a very good mix over several decades.

Let's try an experiment. Give me a few Progressive Rock artists to start with and I'll see if we can build a station.
I'd add Caravan to that artist list. Probably the first artist to use the "progressive" label to refer to themselves. I happen to have uploaded one of their songs in my 'vinyl olio' playlist.
Also, Pink Floyd (Screaming Abdabs), Screaming Abdabs is the name used on some of the Pink Floyd ROIO albums. I also uploaded a song by Pink Floyd (Screaming Abdabs) in the vinyl olio playlist.
How about Triumvirat? I have the Illusions on a Double Dimple album. I don't know if I got around to digitizing it yet, though. (too many albums, so little time...) :)
Hope this helps.

this is literally my most often listened to group of prog rock bands and by far the largest number of audio tracks gracing my library. i just picked up the latest Marillion Afraid of Sunlight in HD audio.
one more: IQ. :)

I think this is a great idea and i would love to have a progressive rock station !
I saw several of my playlist were already mentionned but i just uploaded others i had in order to help :
You'll find those playlists under Alexbdb2
-Top of rock progressif
And others artist oriented :
-Genesis
-Styx
-Moody Blues
-Pink Floyd
-
Thanks. As a reminder to everyone, the playlists should be mixed, not just an album or an artist. Our license doesn't cover either of the latter.

I'd say Genesis is two different bands. Early (Peter Gabriel) progressive/glam, 80 & later not.

*sigh* I know.
Maybe three if you put Calling All Stations in there ;)
Or anything after And Then There Were Three (which is a fine album).
-
If I could step in from left field and offer a more recent song...
Thinking of a Place - War on Drugs (A Deeper Understanding album).
While I wouldn't call War on Drugs a progressive group, imo, the song Thinking Of A Place hits it out of the park in that realm. When I first heard it on the radio a couple years ago, I could not believe it was a new song.
It'll be on one of the playlists I plan to upload in the future (been busy with the Win7 -> Win10 conversion here...)
-
Please try the new Prog button in Cloudplay. It plays a selection from the progressive rock playlists suggested in this thread. Thanks for all the contributions!
-
Thank you for this!
-
fwiw...
I just uploaded a playlist that has a few progressive songs on it... Thinking Is The Best Way To Travel

Great station! Can you all add this to JRemote2 and Panel when you get a chance?
-
Wow...
I found another box of records in the spare bedroom closet. (it's an adventure around here when i go exploring in my house. Found some Enrico Caruso 12" 78's. Go figure...)
The progressively Longer playlist is a result of that.
There may even be a Progressively Longer, II playlist if I find the right tunes for it...
