I know a lot people have installed sp-2 and said they have no problem installing, and or upgrading Mc. I guess I'm one of the few since installing micosoft sp2 that is having problems upgrading to the latest version of mc it work fine the version that I do have. I tryed everything I no like turn off firewalls, ad-aware programs still I can't upgraded it ,without uninstalling the service pack. I can download the update start the installation, the update goes threw a setup process, but after that the installation just stops. After the setup process the license agreement is suppose to ask me if I agree or disagree. While after the setup process installation just stops an dies.If anyone has this happen to them and has a fix let me no what you did to fix this.

What version of MC are you using? What OS? Please copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.
There was a thread recently on a similar problem. Doof had the problem, I think. You could search his posts (from his profile) to find the thread.

i'll try to find it here the info you asked for.

EFSADU.DLL Dependency Walker is saying this file is missing, and a problem opening cannot find the file specifed (2). If this will help, If this is the problem were can I find or get this file so I can update without uninstalling MC everytime I want to upgrade.
-
Since upgrading the only way I got the version I do have is by uninstalling sp2 then run the upgrade and it installs fine with sp1 all day long .
-
That dll is not a MC dll... Looks to be a xp dll...
You may want to check this out:
http://computercops.biz/postp276173.html
May be of some help.
YOu can also do a repair install using the xp disc.
-
cool thanks! that may be the ticket.
-
That worked. I uninstalled spywareblaster, turned off zonealarm, and ran norton windoctor instead of that PC mightymax because they are the same program.
Norton systemworks has that program PC mightymax was going to cost me to fix the problems it found.
I can now upgrade under sp2. Thanks imjustagamer. You're a life saver.

Additional note to an old post
If you have SpywareGuard installed the installer for MC probably won't
work. Quick fix for this is
Open SpywareGuard
Click Options
Turn off Resident Scanner
Click Apply
Now MC should be able to install.
Now you can turn the scanner back on.
-
I am not sure why you would want to use SpywareGuard since the definitions has not been updated in like 2 years, and the program it's self has not been updated in 3 years.
it seems like you will be waisting your time since it lets all the new spyware to continue to work.
-
lol never noticed that!
You'd think JavaSoft would actually point it out on their
download site wouldn't you! Anyhow somepeople
still use it to stop browser hijacking which doesn't need
updates. Since it's so lightweight I'll probably keep it
for the time being!
-
Well SpywareBlaster Is their current Product And It Is Also Freeware
I Only Checked all this out because you Posted Info, and I am a Bit Nosey (I Have BiNos To Spy On My Neighbors)
The Problem With All Of This Is They May Keep Other Programs From Working Even If You Want It To Work. Like Allowing Pop Up's On Some Websites And Users Maybe Running 14 Or So Pop-Up Blockers (Unknowingly Sometimes).
