Title: Which APT repository
Post by: erviv on July 08, 2017, 08:22:06 am
With the release of the ARM build for the Rpi, are all repositories available (stable, latest, beta)?  If all are available I would use latest.
I think that is all I have yet to sort out in order to follow the very useful instructions in the "how to install a MC upgrade in the thread, copied below, by Awesome Donkey, ( with of course the revised MC version numbers, in my case replacing MC 21 with 22 And MC 22 with 23)

Thanks

Looks like the latest and beta repos for MC23 is up, but stable isn't yet.

I can't recall if the current MC23 build is in the latest repo or not, but it is in the beta repo. You *can* run both the latest and beta repos at the same time (it'll allow updates to betas if desired).

First, import the gpg key if you haven't already;

Code: [Select]
wget -q "http://dist.jriver.com/mediacenter@jriver.com.gpg.key" -O- | sudo apt-key add -
Second, add the latest repo for ARM;

Code: [Select]
sudo wget http://dist.jriver.com/latest/mediacenter/mediacenter23native.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mediacenter23.list
Finally if you want to, also add the beta repo for ARM:

Code: [Select]
sudo wget http://dist.jriver.com/beta/mediacenter/mediacenter23native.list -O /etc/apt/sources.list.d/mediacenter23beta.list
After that just run sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install mediacenter23 and that should do it. :)

It looks to me like "latest" for MC23 is empty.  I added repos, one by one, and kept getting "package not found" until I added the last one here:  The Beta repo.

It probably doesn't matter; just mentioning it in case someone else wanted to know.

I considered the linux build to still be beta. Will put out a latest soon.

Is there any hope to get somehow aclar information if MC23 for Raspberry is released and how one can install it? I understand that the text about adding the »rpo« – whatever this my be – is not reliable. It’s better not to follow it’s instructions. But how can I get what I paid for?

Currently there is no "stable" build for raspberry pi for mc 23, there is a build in the latest branch. I've got my quickstart guide ready for MC23, but I've been holding off posting it because I don't want to recommend people use latest in place of stable for an audio appliance.  I may post it anyway and update it when the builds land in stable.

EDIT: OK the quick start install guide is up with the latest branch recommended for now. I'll modify it to stable once the stable branch lands.
