Title: Poor Graphic Performance
Post by: jesseinsf on March 18, 2019, 01:17:05 am
I'm not sure how to say this nicely, but what is with the poor graphics performance on a 4K monitor. I thought it was my old computer at first (which used a GeForce GTX 960 with 4GB GDDR5 memory). Then I built a new computer using:

•   Running Windows 10 Pro for Workstations
•   Samsung 32" UH750 4K UHD QLED Monitor
•   Intel Core i9-9900K Up to 5GHz
•   NVidia GeForce RTX 2080TI Founders Edition Video card
•   Asus Maximus XI Extreme Motherboard
•   128 GB RAM DDR4 3200
•   Samsung 970 Pro m.2 1TB SSD
•   Creative Sound Blaster AE-9 sound card w/TaraLabs Cables

This high-end hardware made no difference. So, what is the issue, the issue is scrolling is Jittery when I scroll through the library. This is with and without "Free Sync on". Anyone have an Idea of what is causing this?

Have the thumbnails all been built?  You can do this all at once in Options.  Otherwise, they are built as you scroll.

I notice the same thing.  It's not a performance issue... it just doesn't have the smooth scrolling effect that we have come to expect in our browsers, apps etc... more like a jittery scrolling from the early 2000's.

Poor graphics performance does not mean poor video performance?
If yes - do you use RO HQ or RO Standard?

It's the smooth scrolling effect in views and stuff like that, it can be pretty janky at times. But I don't think there's any way(s) you can change it though. I can't recall if the scrolling is tied to Windows' smooth scrolling settings or not. But I wouldn't actually recommend trying to mess with that stuff.

Though, I actually wish I could disable the smooth scrolling effect used in MC and switch it to the system's line scrolling setting. That's been in my wishlist since day one. :P

He's talking about scrolling through the library.  It sounds like he thought it was related to poor graphics performance (leading to the thread title) but his system specs, obviously, should not have any trouble with that.  It's just the scrolling in jriver.  I notice the same issues.  Hard to track with your eyes as you scroll because it's jittery instead of smooth.

Yes, I agree. My system specs have also been updated and the same issue occurs.
