Title: Raspberry Pi cannot find any music
Post by: akira54 on June 30, 2017, 06:51:12 am
Hi,

I followed the installation instructions by mwillems (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=106027.0) and installed the software without a hitch on my (2012) Raspberry Pi B. MC started without a problem but when I told it to import music from my NAS it finished in less than a second and imported nothing. There was no error message. I am sorry I cannot offer more information and I realise this is terribly vague but can someone at least suggest what I might check or do to identify the problem? I am computer literate but not familiar with Linux.

You'll need to be more specific about what you mean by "told it to import music from my NAS"?  Did you mount the NAS first?  Can you see it in the file manager?

This post may help: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110697.msg765193.html#msg765193

Sorry. Yes the NAS was mounted and yes it was shown in the file manager and yes the path to the music folder was entered.

That's very odd then.  My suggestion is that you doublecheck all the settings you entered as part of the import process (did you accidentally uncheck audio types, are you sure the path is correct, etc.).  If you can see the NAS in the file manager, MC should be able to see it too.

It does see the music folder on the NAS, it just finishes in no time and imports nothing. I'll hook it all up again and see if I can make a screenshot or two.

It turned out to be a mounting problem. Once I had run through everything once more it worked even if it is a little unstable (MC22 crashed while importing media) but that may be due to the old Raspberry I am using.

For those who are also trying to mount a Synology share on on the Raspberry Pi, this is what eventually worked for me:
Install MC22 on the sd card: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=106027.0
Enable NFS on the Synology NAS: file services > NFS > enable
Go to shared folder you would like to mount on Diskstation: Shared folder > Edit > NFS Permissions > Create Hostname/IP: IP address of Pi; Privilege: read only; Squash: map all users to admin; Security: sys and tick all 3 options below (Enable .. Allow connections .. Allow users ..)

Open Terminal on Pi and follow instructions given here: https://mydnic.be/post/hcp-2-access-synology-shared-folders-from-raspberry-pi
