Title: Restore of liscence key after OS restore
Post by: r010159 on June 19, 2014, 06:11:29 pm
My computer crashed. So I restored a recent copy of it that had an operational J River MC. Now J River is unregistered even though I installed the license a few months ago. I located the license file. I looked on J Rivers menus and found no option to reinstall the key. I double clicked on the license file to no avail.

How do I reinstall this license file for J River to operate properly?

The license files (called the Install Key) expire after 14 days.

After 14 days, you need to do a "Restore" to generate a new license file.  You can do this all from within Media Center itself.  Simply enter your Registration Code (the serial number thing they sent you when you purchased it) into the application.  The demo splash thing has a button to do this, or it can be accessed under the Help menu.

It'll register it, and they'll email you a new copy of the license file which can be used on any other Macs that you own.

If that doesn't work for you for some reason (perhaps the computer in question is offline), then you can use this page from any computer to generate the Install Key:
https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi

Once you enter the Registration Code, you can download a new License Key (the file) from the page.  They also email it to you whenever you do this.  If you can't find your Registration Code (again, the serial number thingy) then you can have them email it to you with that same page.

The problem is that it says it is registered. There are no help menu items that would allow me to reinstall the license file. Right now, the music stops playing at periodic intervals just like ihe MC did when it was not licensed.

What do I need to do?

EDIT: I found the problem. A VST lost its registration somehow and is periodically stopping the music.

You misremembered, by the way. MC's trial has no limitations other than the 30 day limit.
