Title: VNC forgotten password
Post by: Bohemian on December 07, 2020, 08:51:11 am
Hi,

BT are giving me a HomeHub2 upgrade and I set it up but could not connect to the idpi (and some other wired devices!

I went back to the previous hub, which I still have!

In order to use the new hub I will need to change the network name and password in the idpi settings, but I can no longer connect to it with VNC.  I have forgotten the password for the VNC server on the pi and so cannot connect to see the GUI main menu!

At wits’ end.  Any ideas, please?

I looked in Panel at the settings but had no response.

You shouldn't have to change the Id's name.

You shouldn't have to change the Id's name.

The new hub has a different network identity and password which I had to enter in my iPads settings in order to connect wirleessly. I think I will have to get into the main menu to change that setting. But I cannot get in.

Any ideas, please?

Connect the idPi to a keyboard and monitor.

Thanks. When I get the wifi and stuff sorted I’ll try to do that.

I meant connect the idPi to a keyboard and monitor temporarily so you can get in so you can change its wifi settings like you just did on your iPads.

Good luck to you.

Yes this worked, thanks.  I also reset the vnc password so I can connect from my pc soon.

Unfortunately, the media server on my pc will not connect to my tv in another room - I use it to serve movies from JRiver.  (All my music comes from Idpi into hifi.)

More work to be done yet.

The ”BT Tech Expert” turned out to be a young woman who had only been tasked with plugging in the Smart Hub 2.   ::).  Oh dear!
