Title: Realtek and the digital optical interface (TOSLink) over WASAPI [Solved]
Post by: jesseinsf on June 11, 2021, 11:56:57 am
Can anyone explain why JRiver doesn't like Realtek drivers when playing over the Digital Optical Interface (TOSLink)in WASAPI Mode? Also, what is Realtek doing that causes the sound to be distorted?

Update:
I figured it out:

Some Realtek hardware (Over Optical connection) can only work with WASAPI Exclusive Mode when the Bit-Depth is set to "24-bit Integer (in a 32-bit package). In other words, 24-bit Padded. It won't accept "Automatic" or anything else.

I am using that setup in output to my Yamaha DAC and it sounds fine on mine?

Do you have WASAPI setup like so: 24-bit Integer (in a 32-bit package)? This is how it works for me when using the Realtek drivers.
