Title: Try to record sound from Hifi
Post by: AddyV on September 28, 2006, 03:24:12 am
I would like like bring all my music from minidisk to the PC using the MJ record sound option, but when recording I have to much distortion because of an input level much to high. I connected the PC "line in" to the minidisk player and to the hifi amplifier but the result was in booth cases too much distortion. What can I do? Is this a problem with the soundcard? do I need another software?

thanks,

Addy

A couple of suggestions:-

1. Make sure the output of your mini-disk is set low
2. Adjust the recording level via the windows sound control panel, ie,
    a) Start->Run and type "sndvol32" + "Enter"
    b) Select the menu Options->Advanced Controls
    c) Lower the level of the recording fader
3. On some pc's (and depending on your sound card) line-in and mic-in are the same thing so bear this in mind when making your adjustments in 2.

Or did you accidently connect it to the mic in?

In the other case I suppose the minidisk player output is variable (connect headphones to). In that case make sure the volume level is almost off.
