Title: Using JRemote as a trackpad
Post by: tyler69 on June 30, 2014, 03:52:33 pm
Would it be possible to use the "Navigation Field" in the Remote part of JRemote as a trackpad (for moving and clicking)? This way one could use the mouse cursor on screen when not in Theatre Mode.

It`s not possible now, but I guess it could be done.
You would have to send the mouse position and convert the coordinates to your PC/TV screen.

Anyway, using a web service for this kind of interaction is not optimal.  Maybe a TCP connection could provide an ok experience.

Thanks. Yes, I use VNC when I have to change some settings, etc.. It just would be more convenient to have such a functionality in JRemote.

VNC is probably the easiest solution, as you can have clients which only act as input devices without streaming video.

Rather than using a full VNC client like Jump Desktop (http://www.jumpdesktop.com) for this, I've heard good things about TouchPad (http://martiancraft.com/products/everyday.html#touchpad).

Thanks for the suggestions. I use iTeleport for VNC. Did not know TouchPad, looks interesting.
