Title: JRemote not connecting [Solved]
Post by: shAf on November 07, 2019, 10:54:10 am
I’ve just upgraded from MC24 to MC25 (most recent as of yesterday), and whereas JRemote had been connecting, it’s not connecting now. I saved the MC24 settings and had them applied to MC25. All seems to be identical— the server is running ... same IP ... same port ... same code.

I’ve tried connecting via the code and via the IP address. I’ve even tried disabling the login. Please advise

Firewall?
Putting the ESET firewall in ‘interactive’ mode allowed me to set the rule...

Hi Shaf,
I seem to have the same problems and am using ESET.. could you expand what you did to fix the issue?

Thanks

I think he means that the AV was set to ask the user instead of assuming.  It's an ESET setting.

Thanks Jim, I will try that setting in ESET and get this resolved... JRemote used to work perfectly and now keeps freezing and then disconnecting, and can't get back into it.  Driving me bonkers.

Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the same method of “teaching” the ESET firewall while installing another software, as if ESET had since rearranged their GUI. I’m sure the method is still there. You want to find the firewall option, not automatic, but that will notify you and prompt you for what the fw should do. Then you can put it back into automatic mode...

HTH :)

Thanks for responding shAf!

I found the setting in ESET and after a number of clicks set the rule permanently and went back to automatic.

I am still not sure why/if that was the underlying issue as I modified a number of things at the same time (think I have been running jriver since version 17/18 with no problems) but I am happy to say jremote is fixed for the time being!
