Title: How do I play music from the server to a client
Post by: ianhudson on February 19, 2022, 08:41:56 am
Hi all - this has to be easy but I just cannot figure it out,

I have decided to run JRiver server off my laptop (called ASUS). I have a Linux machine (called Oli3) connected to my stereo as a client.

I want to control all playback to all devices in my home from ASUS. I can see all my SONOS devices on ASUS, but I cannot see Oli3, the MC client?

I can open the the main library that is on ASUS and from Oli3 and I can play the music using the interface on Oli3, but I want to control it all from ASUS....and I cannot see the Oli3 on ASUS.

I do not have media server running on Oli3 as I have read that MC devices would just see each other. I have it running on ASUS (obviousy)

In essence, I want Oli3 to just be an endpoint that I can shoot music to, just like I can with sonos......just like how Roon works....

Can't I do that?

Never mind - I got it.

I was using the Linux box a server beofre, so I completely uninstalled JRiver and all it's settings and reinstalled. I now see it on the ASUS machine and can play to it! yes!!!!!!!!
