You can now order a JRiver Media Center 26 upgrade license at a discount.
Early builds of JRiver Media Center 26 are now available on the Download Page (https://jriver.com/download.html). These will improve on MC25, and MC26 will continue to improve throughout the year.
Upgrade Prices
You can use a license from any previous version of JRiver Media Center, even Media Jukebox 8.0, to upgrade.
The discounted price to upgrade for Windows, Mac or Linux is $26.98. A Master License upgrade for all three OS's is $36.98.
INSTRUCTIONS
To direct you, we need to check a few things.
1. Have you ever purchased MC?
If not, there is no upgrade price. Sorry. Here's how to download and purchase (https://jriver.com/purchase.html) a license.
2. Do you have your Registration Code for your older version?
If not, you can email it to yourself by using option #2 on the Restore Page (https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi).
Now you're ready to purchase, but we need to know what OS you have and what license you want.
3. Are you planning to use more than one OS?
If so, you will need a Master License, which works with Windows, Mac, and Linux. You can purchase from the Help menu of a current version or you can go here:
Master License Upgrade (https://jriver.com/purchase_26_master_as_upgrade.html) (direct link)
5. Or do you only need Windows or only Mac or only Linux?
Then you can get the new license here:
Windows Upgrade (https://jriver.com/purchase_26_as_upgrade.html) (direct link)
Mac Upgrade (https://www.jriver.com/purchase_26_mac_as_upgrade.html) (direct link)
Linux Upgrade (https://www.jriver.com/purchase_26_linux_as_upgrade.html) (direct link)
Problems
Is your license not accepted when you upgrade?
Make sure you're on the right upgrade page.
Use copy and paste. 0 (zero) and O (letter) look alike. So do 1 (number one) and l or I (letters).
Don't have your license? Visit the Restore Page (https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi) and use option #2 to email yourself your license(s).

Hi, I just purchased an MC25 upgrade for my Linux OS and saw that for $8.00 more I could have gotten the Master License. AT the time I did not choose to do that, but I'd like to go ahead and get the Master license if I could still get for the extra $8.00.
My new, MC25, license is the following, [redacted -- please don't post your license].
Please let me know, thank you,
Henry S. Kurtz
-
thanks, just thought about that!!!

You have mail.

IN order to begin the process of upgrading from MC22 to MC24 (or am I upgrading to MC25?), I have requested that my registration code be emailed to me. I quickly received an email containing several links, which includes a sequence of characters that is not explicitly identified as a registration code but looks like this (although this is not my actual code but is for purposes of illustration):
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
Is the above the registration code that I need to use when I upgrade?
thanks
Keith

Thanks for the quick reply, but the referenced wiki page did not directly answer the question.
Does the registration code look like this?
XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
thanks again

Yes it does. I always recommend to everyone to make sure you keep it in a safe place and never post it publicly.

I attempted to upgrade from mc24 to mc25, and it isn't accepting my license for restoration. I downloaded it on Chrome after getting the email with the registration codes for mc17, mc21, and mc24 emailed to me. I used the code for mc24 to generate an email with the mjc file, and when attempting to restore, I am getting a message that the license file isn't valid for media center, with the option to purchase a new license. I went ahead and uninstalled MC24 at this point, and tried to restore MC25, and I got the same result. One complicating factor is that I still have a version of MC17 on the computer that I don't use, and I am not able to uninstall it (when I attempt to uninstall, I get a popup that the run dll initialization routine failed).
edit: this didn't post where I wanted it to; I will repost elsewhere.
-
Try using copy and paste for your license. The instructions in the first post of this thread should work.
-
I did use copy and paste, carefully to avoid inserting a space before or after as well. I also generated the code by just clicking on the mjr file link.
-
I went ahead and deleted the MC17 version instead of uninstalling, then I uninstalled and reinstalled MC25. When I attempt to install the license (using the copy/paste from the MC25 registration from the email sent to me), I get a message that the license file isn't valid for media center, asking me if I want to buy a new one. MC25 is still showing as a temporary version that must be upgraded in 30 days. I get the same result when clicking on the downloaded mjr file.

Did you read that carefully?
-
Yes, I followed the steps there. Am I correct in thinking that the license that I have for MC24 should work for an upgrade to MC25 (without having to purchase a new license)?

No. Not unless you purchased after December 15, 2018.
-
Ah, a detail that I missed. Ok, purchasing a new license, then. Thanks for the clarification.
-
I'm hesitating to get MC25 as I've been using JRiver for quite a while and am failing to see any improvement, soundwise, and only get more and more skips, lags and program failures as the versions go. I do not use it on a brand new computer but it is still a pretty powerful machine, dedicated to JRiver only.
Also, I'm using it for audio only. Is there a "naked" version which concentrates on audio quality only ? I don't need JRiver for anything else, not even for streaming. I buy music (mainly 24 bit) and play it from my computer. That's it.
If such a version exists, please let me know or, unfortunately, it will be time for us to part ways.
-
Try enabling Audio Only Mode (View menu > Audio Only Mode) and restart MC and that disables all the images/videos features. You can also then go to MC's Options > General > Features and uncheck features you don't use.

I received an email with the upgrade price for $24.98 for a Master License, however putting in my Master License 24 registration key still shows the $34.98 upgrade price.
It doesn't seem to recognize other previous Master License keys I have either
-
Continue on. Before you complete the purchase, you can enter the coupon.
-
Ah.. just me being dumb, ok thanks
-
I just updated today for $26.95 for a Windows upgrade. I just received an email with a $10 off code for upgrades. I'm hoping somehow I can have this $10 applied to my upgrade from today. Please advise.

Is that email something only selected users receive? I can't recall seeing this in my inbox.
-
discount code won't take
-
What happens? Did you enter it?
Link?
-
I filled out the form-name, address, password then chose paypal. I entered the code in the box at the bottom of the page and selected "continue". The page then says I have to correct the item in red which is the code box. When I removed the code, it allowed me to go to the next page.
-
It isn't entered on the Paypal page. Before you get there, scroll down from where you've entered your name and address.
-
I did enter it before the paypal page in the code box but it would not allow me to continue until I removed the code. Once I did that, it continued to the paypal page showing the non discounted price.
-
OK, I got it to work. I think I had it open twice. Thanks for the replies!

Purchased upgrade from MC23, downloaded MC25 x64, extracted, hit Yes to "Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device?", windows closes, nothing happens.
Using Win10, rebooted 3x, tried 3x, same behavior. I was a happy MC23 user, still hoping MC25 will surprise me.
I also tried installing on another Win10 box, same behavior, does not execute/install MediaCenter-250045-x64.exe on either of the 2 Win10 64bit machines I have.
What should I do?
-
Is the coupon for $10 off good for upgrade to MC25 or is it a hoax?
-
It is no hoax.

Installation problems are usually antivirus problems. Sorry I didn't see this earlier.
-
I use Windows Defender as antivirus. I unckecked everything under Virus and Threat Protection. I also added the MediaCenter250045-x64.exe as an exclusion, just in case. Still does not install, w/o any warning. The .exe open, Windows emits a warning, I hit yes to allow execution, and then it goes into thin air.
So I created a Win10 virtual machine which also happens to have Windows Defender, downloaded the executable and it installed.
Any ideas as to who the culprit could be?
-
Windows or something else installed on it. Almost always antivirus. Look carefully.
-
I am so confused. I have JRiver Media center 22 and it has stopped working. If I need to upgrade I am willing to do that but the posts I am finding confuse me rather than explain what I need to do. It appears you have something now JRiver Media 25. Perhaps I need it, or perhaps it stopped working for another reason. Do you have live help?

I missed out on the june deal. Any July specials for first time purchasers?
-
The first post in this thread will tell you how to upgrade. If you don't understand something, please say what it is.
You don't have to upgrade. Start a new topic if you want to try getting MC22 running. Describe what happens when you try to use it.

I want to upgrade
1. my existing win pc from 32-bit mc ver. 22 to a master lic. ver. 25 and
2. use mc in a 64-bit ver. 25 as well on my new win-10, 64-bit pc and
3. on a raspi.
How should I proceed?
Thanks
-
You just need a Master License. It will work with all.
Follow the directions in the first post of this thread.
-
Is the price to upgrade from current version MC25 for windows ==> MC25 Master License $34.98, or am I missing something on the web site? Thanks
-
You have mail.
-
Thanks!
-
I upgraded to a Master Licence, Media Centre 25 on 26th August 2019. Unfortunately you have charged me twice, once on the 26th and again on the 28th for a slightly different amount. Please contact me so that you can arrange a refund of the extra payment.
Apart from that I'm very happy with the software, but not necessarily at twice the price!
Regards, Malcolm
-
We will issue a refund for the last charge today.

I have an inherited PC with MC installed and registered. I purchased a full licence, not the upgrade, but I am unable to get MC registered to me. Every time I run the registration code it does not result in a change of ownership.
-
the license you purchased must match the correct version of MC....so if you purchased a MC 25 license it will only work with MC25
-
Just purchased the full licence 1 hour ago, uninstalled the already licensed MC25. Downloaded MC25 install. Installed it. Installed the key. Said was successfully registered. Went to help/registration, not registered to me but to the previous owner.
-
Go to Help > Registration Info... where it tells you about the owner. There should be a button on the bottom to Reset and Restore License so give that a try. :)
-
Did that already and tried again just now. Both times it said it was successful but the registered name is still the previous name.
-
I purchased 26 for Win to upgrade 25 for Win, downloaded the installer and attempted install.. Message returned "not for the same product." How do I recover and install??
-
Download MC25 version 114 and install it then apply your reg.
-
Totally wrapped around axle trying to sign up for upgrade from Version 25 to 26!
I purchased 25 late last December. Thought I had registration code but apparently endless string of numbers, letters don't match! Probably a zero is a capital O???
Isn't there and easier way to just sign up for upgrade?
My JR MC resides on music server. I'm trying to get an upgrade code on my desktop computer. Maybe that is problem/
Help!

I have a problem with upgrading and cant seem to find any direct email address for support, just this Forum.
I originally bought a Windows MC 19 and then wanted it for my Mac too so bought a Mac version as well. I later upgraded the Mac version to 20. I want to run Spotify through the windows version so I upgraded last night, but chose a Master License (multi platform upgrade) so I can presumably use the same code for my Mac or PC. I have previously paid for two copies but it would seem fair to now be able to upgrade them together?
I have downloaded MC 25 on the PC and tried to enter the registration code that I was sent through on purchase but the Windows computer says the code is not valid. It has started running a trial version for me instead.
I also still have MC 19 on there. Should I uninstall that version of MC19 and leave just 25 on? I thought the playlists etc may have copied across but they haven't. However the biggest problem is that I cant get it to accept the New upgrade code that I have bought.
In addition I can't get Spotify to play through it. I Have changed the WDM driver setting to JRiver and masde it the default and can see in the meters that Spotify is going in to it on the WDM driver page but no audio is coming out. I have an Arcam Amp connected and have selected that as the output from the DSP.
Sorry - lots of issues to solve but if anyone can help that would be much appreciated. Thank you.

Make sure you're using the latest MC25 build (25.0.114) for Windows for the MC26 license to work: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,122717.0.html
Also, the easiest way to transfer playlists, settings, etc. is by doing a library backup in MC19 and restoring the library backup in MC25: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Library_Backup
-
I installed in June the trial version of MC25 for Mac and after few days I purchased but didn't use it.
Now I'm in a loop.
When I try to open MC25 it is written that the trial period has expired
when I restore it says that my license file is not valid for MC and asks if I want to purchase an upgrade
when I click NO it goes again to the window showing trial period has expired.
What is wrong?
-
Sorry, it's not the right place. I Will post it in Mac forum
-
Hi. I have stayed with version 17/18 because after those versions you took out the recording facility which I find very useful. Has it been put back in yet?
-
I neglected to download MC26 on an older PC laptop. I have a MC26 master license. I'm not ready to purchase MC27. How do I download MC26?
