As already requested in this thread, https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,128769.0.html I would like v28 to automate cropping black bars 2:35
-
A simple one would suffice; "It is not possible"
-
We support cropping with madVR, which should happen automatically. Beyond that, no further plans.
-
Thanks for the reply. As I said in the post, however, madvr is fine with HD files while for 4K UHD files and an RX580 can't. A more powerful GPU would be needed, but at the moment it is impossible to buy one.
Thanks anyway, I will continue as I have done so far.

Rereading the post, I realized that I probably expressed myself badly, creating a misunderstanding.
I do not pretend that MC performs the detection of black bars as madvr does, but I would like, if possible, that among the aspect ratio mode options as seen in the image below, there is also Crop Black Bars 2:35 as is possible select it while watching the movie. That is, I would like to set it by default and not have to choose it when starting the movie.
This is my little wish, within the limits of feasibility

Have you tried right-click menu while a video is playing?
Right-click, Window > Crop black bars
-
Yes of course, you can do it that way or with the remote control, as I do, by going to aspect ratio and then crop black bars 2:35.
As I said above, however, I would like to set it by default from the video section of MC (see posted image).
-
Now I understand you better. I admit that I did not read your Sunday post careful enough.
The reason the option is not default is that all videos are different. This is the type of options that is best applied on per video basis. So I guess the answer is no as it could lead to misunderstanding by some users.
-
But in fact, I want to create a zone in which to apply that option based on the type of video. Currently it could be done by choosing between the 3 options stretch, crop and automatic to which you could add crop black bars 2:35.
I don't think it can create misunderstandings.

An RX580 should handle 4K playback in madVR just fine, but you may need to either create a separate performance profile for 4K content or reduce the quality settings globally.
