EDIT (May 9, 2011)

MC16 has now built-in support for handling m4a files (AAC & ALAC). It is not necessary or recommended to use DirectShow decoding for m4a anymore. The new built-in m4a plugin adds also full m4a tagging support (read and write any tags and embedded cover art). Previously MC could only read certain basic m4a tags.

The example file is video, but audio and data files work as well (just skip the "screen grab" step).

Some other info in that thread may not be up-to-date (for instance, it is now possible to add cover art to document files.)

Cover art: finding, downloading, scanning, linking, organizing, moving, backing up, embedding, and viewing cover art & additional album images (back, booklet, etc).

Understanding the "Save View / Load View" options:
This option in the "Customise View" tool can cause a lot of frustration. Users believe they are not using it correctly, or that it is broken. The chances are high that neither is true. Here are some links where I try to explain what is happening and why...
