This problem already exists for a long time and is still not solved in the last version. Using my iPad air2 clicking each second pdf file crashes the app. Sometimes it works at the second or third try, somentimes I give up after the 10th crash. Any idea why this happens.

Just released a new build.
Can you give it a try?
Also, do you see any correlation to the file size of the PDF's and crashes?
-
I have the latest version 3.26 and the problem exists, but not always.
I have already checked the file size. The problem has no relation to it. Sometimes I think it has something to do with the used strength I press on the touchscreen, and Sometimes I think I have to press exact in the middle of the file symbol. I have tried ten different pdf files now and all worked fine. Sorry if I am wrong an it‘s an iPad problem. I don‘t know it.

I have experienced this as well, on the current and previous versions of JRemote. I've always just navigated back and tried opening the PDF again; I think it's always worked on the second attempt.
-
3.27 came out today.
-
I've seen this problem since I started using JRemote many versions ago. Using 3.27 I haven't seen the app crash when opening the PDF after selecting the Assets tab on the info screen. It still crashes every now and then if I get to the PDF by touching the paper clip. I haven't done a ton of testing, so this could just be a coincidence. It was always my impression this is an iPad iOS issue (I'm stuck at 9.3.5).
Thanks for fixing the date display (and labeling).
-
Once again. Problem still exists with 3.27. Latest IOS 12.1.3. some PDFs are working fine, some maybe.....
-
I too have this problem since the beginning of Assets. Random crashes when opening pdf’s. In my case though, the heavier the file, the least chance it will open.
Almost always crashes if open directly from the paper clip. I have to click Asset then the pdf then it usually works although random crashes all the time still... Usually works after 4-5 times though.
I always though It was perhaps a limitation of the ram in the iPad.
I am on 3.27 and got crashes right away with the paper clip still and couldn’t open a few heavier homemade pdf’s also.

Are you all on iPads?
I can't get it to crash on my iPhone SE iOS 12.1
Also, any characters in the asset name that might have to be escaped (i.e. &, *, $, etc)?
-
Sure, I think you will not read a pdf file on an iPhone SE
-
Same here. I only use my iPad. I don't use "strange" characters in the filename of the pdf.

It works great actually.
-
I believe that it works, I ment, it would be not a big fun to read a pdf on such a small display. But maybe my eyes are to old for that ;)

True it is pretty small but one can zoom in and out ;)

Only use an iPad. Usually my pdf would be named something like that:
1992 - Queen Of Soul - The Atlantic Recordings (CD)
Would -() be considered problematic characters perhaps?

Yes.
I'll try one on my pad when I get home tonight...
-
Almost always use my iPhone, tried opening a pdf on my iPad tonight..crash every time. Never crashes on my phone.

Yes.

in my case it happens with PDFs called "booklet.pdf" or similiar, so it's not a problem with special signs
-
Ok, I've reproduced it.
Will see if I can get it in the debugger...

Hi Bob,
Thanks for your work and the new version, I have tried some problem PDFs and it works great now. :)
