Title: Play to network DLNA device
Post by: InflatableMouse on April 15, 2018, 05:18:20 am
Gotta ask a noob question cos I'm lost  ;D

Isn't it possible to play to a network connected DAC? i've got a Teac NT-503 (http://audio.teac.com/product/nt-503/specifications/) which is connected to the network. It supports DLNA 1.5.

I thought it would be easy to configure MC24 (on Linux) to play to this device, but I can't figure it out. Can't see the device and honestly, I'm not even sure where or how to add it.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks!

If it's DLNA, it should show up under Playing Now.  It can take a couple of minutes.  Drag a file to it when you see it.

Make sure Media Network is turned on in MC settings.

You could check to see if the device shows up on the network as a media device in Windows Explorer.  It's possible the device isn't set up correctly.

Thanks, that's what I thought but what if it's not appearing?

The device may not be set up correctly.  Can you see it from any other device?  A TV, for example?

It does, I can play to it from some Android apps that support upnp/dlna like this one (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.findhdmusic.app.upnpcast&hl=en).

Then it has to be a configuration problem somewhere.  Try the wiki on Media Network and DLNA.

Firewall on Linux?

Thanks Jim.

Of course I read the wiki ;).

But there's nothing to configure except enable media network so DLNA is enabled, or is there?

I'll try from Windows and report back.

On Windows, I see both my receiver and the Teac NT-503. On Linux, I see neither.

There is no (outgoing) firewall.

Double check that you have turned on Media Network on the Linux machine.  Try connecting to it from Windows.

What version of MC are you using?

24.0.15. Media Network is turned on, I can connect to it from both Windows and Android.

Unless ... firewall incoming needs some ports open for MC to see them. Let me turn it off completely and wait a few minutes.

yeah, sorry, I didn't think of that but that was it.

I need to open incoming port 1900/udp on the firewall for MC to see them.
