Title: One soundcard for multizone advise pls
Post by: Duke on May 09, 2006, 04:30:09 pm
Hi,

Does anybody have a recommendation for a soundcard with multi outputs (jacks), for different zones (4 or 5)  that works good with MC, instead of using one card for each zone. I am looking for an afordable option unlike the M-audio cards I have seen here, or am I just too cheap?  :-\

Thanks

Duke

You might try looking to the pro music world.

I'm using the Echo Layla20. It's an older pro-recording card (with a 1-rackspace breakout box). It's got 8 mono inputs and 10 mono outputs. Windows sees it as 5 seperate stereo sound cards, so you can use it for 5 independent zones. Since all the outputs are running off the same clock, there's no problem with syncing.

Check out www.musiciansfriend.com or other sources for PC recording gear. Prices for this stuff are coming down all the time. You should be able to find something that meets your needs for a decent price.
