Title: Glitchy USB audio
Post by: MAS-Indy on March 05, 2021, 12:58:18 pm
System:

Lenovo Thinkpad (Linux Mint 20.1) -> Schiit Modi Multibit DAC via USB 2.0

Has anyone experienced "glitchy" audio? I have (hopefully) eliminated the DAC as the glitchy source by changing the DAC input from a CD player using a coaxial digital output. NO glitches!
I have tried switching USB ports on the Lenovo; same result.
I am NOT a Linux guru, but I have searched for and tried a few things that seemed promising, with no luck.
I am completely open to suggestions.

Thanks.

How are you sending the signal to the DAC? Unconverted? PCM? What path are you using?

Are you using the right Audio Device?
Should be the one beginning with hw.

Could be poorly behaving power savings kicking in ?    Does it start after the laptop is otherwise idle for a bit ?
Another laptop specific culprit is extreme cpu throttling if some of your load is spiky.  Do you have any heavy backround tasks?
