Title: Kepler benchmarks leaked
Post by: Matt on March 20, 2012, 08:46:07 pm
It looks like nVidia will have the fastest single card this round, although the 7970 was available about 3 months earlier:

The GTX 680 has the same idle power as the 7970 with the monitor on.

The AMD uses about 13 less watts when the monitor goes off.

Both are fast for gaming, but the GTX 680 is generally faster.

We should know a lot more in a couple days.

The real reviews are up.

For example:

The card looks great.  I'm in for one.

Yes, looks pretty awesome!

How about a 4k projector like the Sony VPL-PW1000ES to go with it? How do you reckon MadVR will perform at upscaling Bluray to 4k with this card?!

Would love to see it!

This has nothing to do with Kepler, but NewEgg is not the NewEgg I used to love.

I ordered in the first five minutes, before they even had all the brand cards listed.

A day and a half later, the order is still stuck at 'Order Verification'.

I wrote them this afternoon and haven't heard back.

The money is charged against my card, so it's not a payment issue.

I'm trying to online chat now.  They said it'd be 2:30 of waiting.  It's been 20:00 and I've moved from spot 14 to 9.

In the list of problems you can have in life, this ranks pretty low on the list.  Still a little frustrating.

The card showed up today.

I was surprised that the idle power on my system didn't fall as much as expected.

Total system power usage at idle (sitting at desktop, measured with a Kill-a-Watt):
GTX 480: ~91 watts
GTX 680: ~72 watts

That's about a 25 year payback :P

Soooo..  That's about 24 1/2 years longer than you will own this card?
