Title: "Failed to load product info file"

am I the only one who's still getting this error when attempting to uninstall v 9.1291? I tried to install this version over a previous version because I wanted to uninstall the older version but couldn't, and figured a fresh install might allow me to uninstall -- seriously, aren't computers great?  but it looks like the install failed (media center directory is present but no media center app -- just a bunch of DLLs, package installer and setupcomplete) and I'm left with a sort of half-install that neither works nor can be uninstalled. in short: aiiieee.   any advice would be appreciated.
