As soon as I try to play a song from a playlist MC24 takes over the entire screen (no task bar) and hangs up.
-
Try F11.
In MC's Options, you can change settings in General > Behavior.
-
Has nothing to do with options. MC24 crashes after a few minutes. Have to hit ESC to close it.
-
Try turning off auto import. Tools > Import.
-
Import is set to import a single folder. Auto import is not selected. MC24 is stable until I click on Albums. It starts to load the artwork for the albums, but crashes after a few albums have had their artwork loaded. I am running MC21 at the present without issue.
-
As soon as I select a playlist, MC24 crashes. Task Manager shows 0% for CPU & Disk utilization.
-
Still crashes, Attached is the log file.
-
Can you play this file?
C:\Users\William\Music\Peter Jennings-The Century\Disc-05 Over the Edge 1936-1941\Peter Jennings-The Century - Intro.mp3): Finish
It's the last file before a crash. (The log should show a crash but doesn't. Maybe it's a hang?)
One of the files at the bottom of the previous log may be causing a problem.
-
I removed the artwork for The Century, Disks 04, 05, and 06. As soon as I click on audio MC24 starts to populate the artwork. When the program hangs my PC is totally locked up. I have to hit ESC to get control back. Attached is the latest log file. It did not create on the desktop. I had to find it and zip it manually.
-
Last thing in the log is (again): 0013812: 8100: Database: Thumbnail Thread (C:\Users\William\Music\Peter Jennings-The Century\Disc-03 Boom to Bust 1920-1929\Peter Jennings-The Century - Intro.mp3): Finish (922 ms)
Might want to try moving the whole Peter Jennings-The Century folder temporarily and see if the crashes/hangs stop.
-
I think you're describing a hang, not a crash. MC is still there, but not responsive, correct? If it responds to escape, then it may not be hung at all.
How long do you wait?
-
Have waited up to 1/2 hour.
-
Also hung up when I tried to play a video. Task Manager shows 0 CPU, Disk, & Network utilization while in this state.
-
Something may be preventing files from being read. Antivirus?
-
I run Norton Security. MC21 and MC24 are in the allowed programs in the Firewall list. What is different between MC21 and MC24?
-
Antivirus would treat them differently.
Uninstall Norton, just as a test.
-
Uninstalled Norton. No change in behavior.
-
If I navigate down to an individual song without displaying all the albums, I can play the song. It is only when I try to open a window where all of the album artwork is displayed does the program hang.
-
What is the exact view you're in when this happens?
-
I click on 'Audio' and then click on 'Albums'. MC24 starts to load all the album covers and then hangs.
-
In Standard View? Or Theater View?
Are the files local? Or on a NAS or USB drive?
Are you running Windows 10? If so, did you configure Windows Defender?
-
I am using standard view.
The album artworks are local files; however, when I click on 'Video' MC24 starts to load the first frame of each video and then hangs up, same as when MC24 starts to populate album artwork.
I am using W10. Windows Defender is configured as follows; Virus and Firewall are defaulted to Norton. The check apps and files is set to 'warn'. Exploit protection for all metrics is set to default.
