Please post any questions or comments about CloudPlay in this thread.
For more about Cloudplay, please see:
CloudPlay Instructions and Description (https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,120166.msg830680.html#msg830680)

Are the audio files uploaded, too?
Yes.
Is it legal?
Yes. JRiver pays streaming fees.
What does it cost?
It's listener supported (https://jriver.com/listener.html).
Are there limits?
At this time, the limit is 2000 files. This may change.
How can I play these files?
On the CloudPlay page, there is a play button on the right.
You can also log in from a browser by visiting https://user.jriver.com . The play button doesn't yet work, but it will soon. We also expect to add playback from JRiver for Android.
-
Won't let me sign in. Did password reset twice and still won't.
Quick reply and now works. Thanks.
-
Try logging into it outside MC: https://user.jriver.com
That should set the cookie. We're working on that problem.
Or switch the browser engine in MC.
-
How is the legality of a user ripping a CD and then uploading copies of those songs to JRiver?
Via US copyright - it's acceptable to make a copy of an original CD as digital music files (or to burn a single copy ) for your own private use but not to share with others.
Isn't the action of uploading to Cloudplay - the same as sharing them with others?
Just wondering where my files end up, who has access to them etc etc.
VP
-
Upgraded to 25.018 and more weirdness with cloudplay - when I play any uploaded playlist (mine or other peoples) I now get the filename as the title of the track - Tags appear to be wiped out
See attached picture (this is actually the Classical Station 2 playlist under JimH ) the title of the track playing appears to be the filename .
Weirdly though if you click on the view full play list in the cloudplay menu you get all the tracks correctly named. It seems the act of playing the stream strips the tags out of the file
-
Yep just tried it and Axilian is totally correct - but only if you click the play button, if you download the playlist then it plays correctly.
-
We're half way through switching to using m3u playlists, which are more universally playable that mpl playlists, so the web play button is broken right now. Hopefully, it will be fixed tomorrow.
On my machine, if I press the play button, the m3u file downloads. If I execute it, MC will play it. The metadata is wrong, as you point out.
One of the goals of doing this is to allow playback in a browser.

It's covered by a streaming license. Nobody can download your files or play them on-demand.
-
Thanks Jim, m3u playlists are great but on some systems accented characters cause problems, m3u8 works better unless you are planning to strip out such annoyances.
PS: I didn't find any .m3u playlists on my system after pressing the play button?

Sorry. I used a browser outside of MC and clicked on this link:
https://user.jriver.com
-
The login is working now.
-
Just tried it from my browser at work (therefore on a completely different network than at home) Logged in via https://user.jriver.com and played my aaaaaaa playlist - it downloaded the m3u and on double clicking it played fine (other than buffering which is due to how bad the connection is at work more than JRiver) - all track descriptors and tags showed up fine :)
I would suggest though due to the issue with m3u handling foreign characters (accents, cedillas etc) as swiv3d suggest m3u8 may be a better option
-
We're switching back to mpl playlists this morning while we work on m3u.
-
I am still unable to play anything from CloudPlay (the m3u playlist downloads) but I get an error regarding "unable to access file".
Could you check my JRiver CloudPlay account and make sure I have the correct permissions to access these playlists?
I'm on my "work computer" now and can't get it to play (my previous reports where from my two home computers - where it was assumed I had a firewall or virus program setup issue).
Thanks
-
We just switched back to mpl playlists for the time being, so please try again.
I'm not sure that's our error message.
What happens if you click on "Send feedback"? Who does it go to?
-
I can't login. Tried but says my login and email address are already in use.

Did you register for the old Dr. Who? It's the same login so you wouldn't need to register again.

Jim,
When I use the "https://user.jriver.com" address, CloudPlay downloads the mpl playlist and that will play.
But if I try to go through the MC25 program using the CloudPlay link (same playlist), I get the error (nothing to download) message.
What does that tell you?
-
Could be the firewall blocking MC, but not blocking the browser you used.
-
The login is working now.
I cannot login.
Tried login outside in Chrome and IE, it says invalid user name or password.
Reset password 5 more times still cannot login.
PS. I don't remember having sign up before, when I sign up it says my email address is already in use. Then when reset password and unlock, the mail called me as "user_r453556_0ffe72cd"
-
I did use Dr. Who briefly in the past but still can't login with that info
-
We'll take a look and reply here in the next hour.

I uploaded another playlist to CloudPlay, it's called "Covers Batch 01. This is my second playlist.
It shows up in MC under the Cloud playlist group and plays fine for me, but when I go to CloudPlay it isn't shown. All I see is the first playlist I uploaded.
-
I see the same. We'll check tomorrow. Thanks.

I've noticed this as well whenever I upload a playlist. It isn't there, then it seems like overnight (or after the services on the server are restarted) it shows up.

That sounds like the same problem I had previously. I uploaded a playlist ;last night on my Axil account at approximately 22:00 GMT (title was 80's pt2) and that was fine (playlist showed up under cloudplay - though i did still have the streamed file insertion in the main library that I have reported before) .
Did something get changed after my playlist upload ? as that may point to the issue
-
There is without doubt a significant lag between loading and displaying.
....and how do I get my Top Artists: Top Genres: to show like everyone else?
-
I don't see your account.
Is your user name Musicbringer?
Are the playlists the old style (without any audio files) from a few months ago? Or are they recent?
There is a setting that displays only new playlists. Click the settings icon at the top right.
-
Also MusicBringer, are you using the latest version of Media Center? I see your playlist on our server but no uploaded music files. The older versions of Media Center will upload only a playlist with no content.
-

If you upload it again, the content will be added.
-
I'm also now seeing what Musicbringer is seeing (and pretty much what I was seeing before)
I'm using 25.018 x64
I've uploaded playlist with media 80s pt3 (uploaded 11pm GMT) - list was originally 50 songs long - seemed to upload fine but then gave the usual playlist failed to upload pop up box (even though the media files uploaded fine)
Checked this morning (0800 GMT) and the playlist still does not show up in cloudplay
I took a song out of the playlist (in case the 50 song limit was the issue) and re-uploaded again (as 80s pt3) - the playlist shows it updated under cloud on the left menu panel - but still does not show up in cloudplay (file location is given as jriver server)
(Update: I just looked at the other 80s playlists I uploaded earlier in the week (pt1 and pt2). These playlists are successfully uploaded to cloudplay (and are on the s3.amazon server) but when I've just have a look at the playlist under cloud (left hand panel) the playlists are now empty and report nothing to play) - They play fine from the cloudplay section

Yes user name is MusicBringer.
Playlist is recent made in last couple of days.
Re: only new playlists setting - I cannot see only new setting
Can see "Only show users and playlists that have uploaded content"
If I tick that I cannot be seen - if left unchecked MusicBringer is displayed, but with no Top Artists: Top Genres:
Using MC 25.0.18 x64bit.
I tried to unload again, and get original error message 1 playlist failed to upload. Please try later.

We're switching back to mpl playlists this morning while we work on m3u.
Are you going to be switching back to M3U playlists anytime soon?
It would be nice, then I can use Cloudplay on my work computer to listen to some nice music while I'm working (I can't install MC on my work computer) -which currently can not read MPL playlists but can play M3U playlists.
-

Just to concur I see the same thing.
Uploaded a new "HiRes 192kHz 24bit" playlist, everything went well except it is not showing under my account in Cloudplay, only playlists I uploaded before Cloudplay launched.
-
thecrow and Axilian, please try uploading your playlists again, it should work now.
MusicBringer, try again, but it seems like you're experiencing a different issue because your music files aren't showing up on our server whereas with the other users, their files were showing up but not the playlist. Maybe you could check your firewall and test uploading with it disabled temporarily.
-
Musicbringer,
Oddly, you and your two playlists only show up if I uncheck the option for "Only show users and playlists that have uploaded content". They also have no play button, just the download button.
Are those old playlists (with no audio files)? It's not possible to upload those now.
-

Mine is on cloudplay (didn't need to upload ). 80s pt3 has now appeared in it's 49 song form (the latest version I uploaded), Funnily test1 and test2 are also back there and I had deleted those from cloudplay
-
My Playlists are new.
In help it says
Then right click in JRiver Media Center on any of your playlists (with up to 100 lossless files) to upload it to JRiver's server at Amazon S3. Both the playlist and the audio files will be uploaded.
What menu should I see when I right click - nothing suggests CloudPlay
I have used mouse to drag and drop onto the red CloudPlay item under Playlists - it blinks and says it done but seems far too quick to me.
I am obviously missing a trick here, and require specific instructions on building a Playlist suitable for CloudPlay
-
Instructions
CloudPlay is now in the tree on the left, just below Audio, Video, and Images.
NO. The Red CloudPlay is under Playlists
I have no "Audio, Video, and Images" listed - since found out coz I use Audio Only Mode
Click on it. Nothing Happens (except the tab window shows CloudPlay
Choose Upload Playlists
You can then upload playlists from MC -- right click on it and choose "Upload to Cloud". Upload to Cloud not on my right click menu
-
Upload To Cloud is ticked under Features
-
When you right-click on a playlist, you should see a menu with the "Upload to Cloud" feature like this:
What do you see on yours?
-
Hello John, yeah found it. Hooray.
Trouble is it is greyed out Grrhh.
-
Hmm, is it a licensed copy of Media Center? The option is only available to those that have purchased the product.
Are the files in this playlist local to your computer? It won't upload remote files.
-
I'll check....
-
Are the files in this playlist local to your computer? It won't upload remote files.
So that means you can only upload from a stand-alone installation of MC, or a MC Server, or a MC Client with direct access to a share which stores the files, with the "Play local file if one that matches Library Server file is found" setting turned on.
Correct?
-

Still not working - Created another playlist (80s pt4) with 50 songs, Uploaded to cloud (21:00 GMT) - Playlist and files uploaded ok with successful reported both in action bar and as the dialogue pop up.
However as reported previously - the uploaded playlist appears on the left hand menu under cloud (files address is the RadioJRiver server) but once again nothing appears under cloudplay - will check back on cloudplay in the morning to see if by a miracle it appears.

Can you play it from there?
Is it possible that the firewall is a problem?
-

80s pt4 plays fine from the left hand menu (cloud)
&
80s Pt3 plays fine from cloudplay so I'm pretty sure it's not the firewall .
The only thing I haven't tried is uploading to cloud with out a firewall in case that will cause the cloudplay to sync up (unfortunately too late at night to try that today) .
It does seem that the cloudplay section is just not syncing up with what is uploaded to RadioJriver server (if indeed that is the server that files are supposed to be uploading to
-
I am seeing the same behaviour as Axilian.
The playlist I uploaded yesterday was not initially added to the public Cloudplay site but worked fine in all other respects.
When I tried to upload the playlist a second time today after being advised it should be fixed it still did not work.
Later my public Cloudplay entries were updated but I suspect this was due to manual intervention by someone on the server?
I've just tried uploading another playlist and it is still not appearing in the public Cloudplay site but plays fine from MC in the new entry in the cloud section under playlists and also plays from the file saved to my desktop.
-
Just a wild thought but from Axilian's comment about it being late at night that implies we are both on the right hand side of the Atlantic.
If others are not having the same problem then that is something the two of us have in common.
Not sure how that could affect things though?
-
Just noticed an oddity with my playlist "HiRes 192kHz 24bit".
The original playlist is all 192kHz 24bit, as also is the link under Playlists>Cloud and the playlist saved to my desktop.
So all the files exist on the server in 192/24 format.
But the public playlist on Cloudplay has two tracks that have been substituted for 44.1kHz 16bit versions, which are "Rolling Stones -Sympathy for the Devil" and "The Cars - Heartbeat City".
-
Update - Checked on cloudplay this morning (0700 GMT) (btw thecrow is correct I'm located in the UK) - the playlist has now shown up on cloudplay - however it's now called Unnamed Playlist rather than 80s pt4
Interestingly I also had a copy of Heartbeat City by The Cars in my playlist also (track 3) also in 24/192 but in my case playing from the cloudplay plays it in 24/192
-

Correct?
Yes, that's correct.
-
Axilian and theCrow, can you please try again? Very sorry for the instability problems. I'll be more vigilant on this thread and try to get this bulletproof for you guys.
-
Just initiated an new upload now.
-
Hey theCrow, looks like it's there and works fine for me, name is RDO6 with 55 tracks. Everything look OK on your end?
-
Upload complete and playlist available on public CloudPlay, so success.
I did change something my end and that was to use Internet Explorer as the Web Engine instead of Chromium, but I don't know if that made a difference or not.
-

Yes, the problem was on the server end.
-
Axilian, I restored your "80s pt4" playlist and it's working well for me. Hopefully it will be working solidly now, but post any problems you run into. Thanks!
-
Thanks JohnT 80s pt4 is now working fine
Made another playlist of 50 tracks (including both 14/44 and 24/96 flacs) and it uploaded fine and is playing from cloudplay as well ( 80s pt5). Looks like the issues is fixed for me also
-
Good to hear! Thanks for reporting back.
-

It shows up in MC under the Cloud playlist group and plays fine for me, but when I go to CloudPlay it isn't shown. All I see is the first playlist I uploaded.
My second playlist is showing up now. Very nice. I will upload more soon.
I have noticed that in CloudPlay the genres aren't displayed as lists when they have multiple values.
For example one of my songs has genres of Metal and Punk but is displayed as "Metal; Punk"

Anyone know why tracks are showing up doubled in my library after loading playlists in to CloudPlay? Each duplicate is the local file and the other is the one in Cloud. This is not cool at all because if I want to listen to an album then I hear multiple songs twice. ?
-
Just search for http and delete them. It's probably an old bug that we think is fixed. If it continues, let us know.
-
I experienced the repeated tracks in albums due to uploading playlists a couple of days ago using 25.0.20 x64.
This also adds lots of unwanted entries in the Recently Imported view too.

Same - I pointed this out a while ago-
However it's easy to remedy - after the the upload is complete - just go into file (under audio side menu) and list via location - all the server files will then be listed as a block and you can just select them all and just remove from media library. I normally just remove from media library (do not select deletion of files).
-
The next build of Media Center (25.0.23 or greater) fixes the problem of library dupes when you upload one of your own playlists and later download it from Cloudplay. For the owner of a downloaded playlist, Media Center will use the original filenames instead of the cloud urls if it finds they exist on the local system.
-
Right now I wish I could get my user name to show up.
-
Hi Mark,
Please try registering again. I don't see it either.
Jim
-
Uploaded another 2 playlists of 50 tracks each (80s pt7 & pt8 ) - still not seeing any issues (other than the extra track addition into the local library) - going well will try to continue uploading stuff (got plenty more to contribute - having being a pro DJ for most of the 80's and 90's as well as owning my own record shop helps :) )

Thanks. Reminds me of High Fidelity, a great movie.
-
Please make Cloudplay available/accessible also from JRemote App.
-
I've uploaded 19 playlists containing everything from 16/44 to 24/192 under my account jaxtherogue. A few files failed the upload but I was able to re-upload those playlists and only the missing files needed to be uploaded. Playback seems to be working fine. I am attempting to upload one more playlist but i think it will push me more over the 2000 file mark.
[My playlists are mostly my "year in review" lists going back a long ways. Seperate yearly lists for the last 8 years and consolidated lists for previous decades. I also uploaded my seasonal playlists (including a Christmas playlist I update every year) and a few fun extras. Some are sequenced and some are meant for shuffle.]
-
I can't play your playlists Jaxtherogue.
If I try play, MC tries for quite some time, then comes back with the message "The is nothing to play".
If I try to download the playlist, I get a "Download failed" message.
I tried a few playlists, but not all.
:'(
EDIT:
I realised I was on my Client, connected to my MC Server, so I disconnected from the server. Still no good. So I restarted MC, using the local library. Still no good. Maybe 10:30am EST Sunday in Melbourne, Australia, is maintenance time for Cloudplay? Hmm, 7:30pm CDT Saturday in Minneapolis. Nah. Something else.
-
Which is why I have killed my account on cloudplay in total denial of the fact that I love the idea but hate the cock-ups.
-
I just played a couple of jaxtherogue's playlists.
I had some trouble with another user's playlists until I rebooted.
It's possible there was a server problem at Amazon.
RoderickGI, you're not using Linux are you? It's still not working there.
-
All Windows these days Jim.
I rebooted just in case. Radio JRiver still works fine. I think Cloudplay has worked in the past for me, but I haven't tested much... Sort of. See below.
I did try to play several User's playlists, and just tested on yours again Jim. Still doesn't work.
My firewall allows JRWeb.exe, JRWorker.exe, and "Media Center 25.exe". There doesn't seem to be anything of note in the firewall history. The firewall shouldn't block outbound HTTP or HTTPS calls anyway, if that is what Cloudplay is using.
In Task Manager "Media Center 25" shows a tiny bit of network activity on either trying to download a playlist, or play the playlist. Trying to play the playlist just goes on for a bit longer, and Windows marks MC as "Not Responding" after a while, until MC25 quits trying.
In the Windows Resource Monitor, clicking the Play icon for a playlist sees an awful lot of local ports being opened. About 80 different local ports. I guess trying to get a port out to the target address, which always uses port 443.
i.e. 192.168.0.10 ports in the range 50xxx to 215.14.187.171 port 443.
In fact, the starting port number for the outbound port just increments 100 each time I click the icon.
That doesn't seem real logical. I could understand trying different ports at the target end, trying to find an available port, but not at the source end.
Given that port 443 is used for HTTPS, or HTTP protocol over TLS/SSL, the problem is probably a security issue. The server doesn't like the request from my PC. But why?
Actually, I think when Cloudplay did work for me, on April 3rd, I was using the browser interface, user.jriver.com. I still have a couple of downloaded playlists from then. That still works, but not as expected, in that clicking the Play button, which points to "https://user.jriver.com/playlists/play/1882/playlist.mpl", the playlist is downloaded rather than played. I get the file "Decade (2000 - 2009).mpl" for example, which is one of Jaxtherogue's playlists and points to the files on "https://s3.amazonaws.com/content.jriver.com/users/etc." and can, of course, be played in MC25.
It could a security setting on my PC that results in the playlist being downloaded rather than played. i.e. Some settings around not opening downloads from the internet directly. Certainly there are dangers is opening files directly from the internet, but I do it all the time with PDFs and so on. I would have to investigate that for mpl files.
Clicking on the download icon in the web version of Cloudplay does nothing, which is not surprising, since it points to the URL "localhost:52199/MCWS/v1/SharedPlaylists?function=download&downloadtype=playlist&id=1882", which is my local PC. Pointing at a MC server to boot, which isn't going to have playlist 1882, until I download and import it. Which doesn't work with the download icon. That's a circular problem right there. Even when I import that playlist, the download icon does nothing. In fact that is exactly the same URL as appears in the bottom status line of the MC Cloudplay pane, when I hover over the download icon for the same playlist. So is the web version of Cloudplay actually pointing to a MC implementation, which handles the requests for playing or downloading Playlists, or is it just that Cloudplay on the web is incomplete, and contains stuff carried over from the MC implementation?
I would really like this Cloudplay to work. Just about everybody other than me can build better playlists. I might actually improve my appreciation for music (I'm mostly a video guy).
-
Oh, and when I played a playlist file I had downloaded, MC still imported all the https links as files. That means I can play any and all tracks that have ever been included in a playlist I have downloaded. Starting Play Doctor using "https" as the seed word works a treat!
I thought it wasn't supposed to do that anymore? I know the recent change was just to stop duplicates when you downloaded your own playlists, but for other downloaders, it MC supposed to import the https link?

This is the same problem I'm having (posted on Beta forum). I'll keep an eye on this thread for the solution.
I can play everything on Cloudplay if I use the https://user.jriver.com link - just cant play from within MC25. This is same on clients and server.
Good luck
-
RoderickGI and CountryBumkin,
If it works from a browser or at least downloads the mpl playlist file, then something has to be getting in the way of MC. Antivirus is always my first choice of a suspect.
Are you both just using Windows Defender?
Are you both on Win10? Not the Insider edition?
RoderickGI, thanks for all the details. The multiple port thing is odd and could be a clue. I'd be surprised if it's MC doing that.
Can you both play Radio JRiver?
-
In my case, I have tried on three "Windows 10" home computers (two x64, one 32 bit). Only Windows Defender installed. I tried with Firewall and Defender turned Off.
Perhaps something to do with my AT&T DSL/Router settings? Although I'm not sure what to check.
If anyone is familiar with these Router-Firewall settings - here's what I have to work with (currently set at default settings):
** Yes, Radio JRiver works fine.
-
Actually, I think when Cloudplay did work for me, on April 3rd, I was using the browser interface, user.jriver.com.
Yes - that is same with me - when I said it works from "https://user.jriver.com", that is how it works for me. Is that not what is supposed to happen (download the playlist to computer, then click on it to play it)?
When I try to use the built-in CloudPlay from inside MC, I can't play or download.
-

That's normal behavior.
When I try to use the built-in CloudPlay from inside MC, I can't play or download.
That's not normal. I can't explain it.
I think playback of the playlists is working for most people now.
I think you've tried changing the browser engine in MC.
If you've tried on several machines, then either the machines have something in common (Windows Defender, for example) that causes problems, or the router is doing something unexpected, or you're connecting to an Amazon server that is broken.
-
I created an account and verified it, made a playlist of 5 songs and in the playlist the upload to cloud is greyed out.
I can drag the playlist to the red cloud icon and after a few seconds it says failed and try again later.
No other message or hint of the issue...
-
Are they lossless?
The minimum playlist may be higher now. Try 10.
-
I tried Cloudplay on my fourth computer (my Motorcoach's computer) which is not on the same "AT&T DSL Router" - and it works as it should.
So the problem on my other home computers has something to do with the firewall settings in the Router. The Windows 10 firewall and Antivirus settings are the same on all computers - so this narrows the problem down to the Router.
Maybe Roderick can look into this area.
-
I can't play your playlists Jaxtherogue.
Tried a few of Jaxtherogues playlists and working for me in both browser and MC (14/04 21:12 UTC). Also uploaded a further 6 playlists of 50 tracks each with no issues, I did however have some streaming issues last night (13/04/ 23:00UTC) but that's cleared up so I assumed it was either an internet problem or something going on with the Amazon server
-
RoderickGI and CountryBumkin,
If it works from a browser or at least downloads the mpl playlist file, then something has to be getting in the way of MC.
Well, it seems the solution for me was to change from the internal Chromium and external Chrome browser, to the internal and external Internet Explorer browser. Cloudplay now works, mostly, both inside MC and in a browser. This is unfortunate, because I almost exclusively use the Chrome browser now, and switched to the Chromium browser to fix issues in MC previously. Besides, Microsoft are putting their money on Edge, based on Chrome(!) and not IE anymore.
For comparison, I am on the latest Windows 10 version available to me as a normal user. No insider version. That's version 1803 (OS Build 17134.706). I run Norton Internet Security, Antivirus and Firewall.
Yes, I can play Radio JRiver, using the chromium engine in MC. Also using the IE browser engine, just tested.
Now as a test I turned off my Norton Smart Firewall and Auto-protect, then switched back to the Chromium engine in MC, and Cloudplay worked.
So it is some combination of the browser engine and security software that is causing the problem.
But wait, there's more. When I turned Norton Auto-protect back on, Cloudplay still worked. When I turned the Smart Firewall back on, Cloudplay still worked. I need to reboot to see if that situation persists.
Cloudplay at user.jriver.com using Internet Explorer isn't perfect, but works, with some caveats.
Log in and navigation is fine, as far as I used it.
If I click the play icon next to a playlist, IE asks if I want to download or open the file. In the Chrome browser this obviously defaulted to download without asking, probably as a security measure. Because opening files directly from the internet can be a risk. I haven't looked at whether I can change a setting to allow mpl files to always be opened in either browser, yet. I would have expected it to be possible to form the URL for the link to always open a file, and not have to ask. This is common enough for PDF files, but I guess they are being opened in the protected environment of the browser.
Back to IE, when I click Open, I get a security warning message, as per the first attached image. As you can see, I can tell IE to always trust Cloudplay website files I open.
When I click Allow, MC comes to the foreground, with the playlist loaded in Playing Now, and playback commences.
Now I assume that it does that because my PC has a File Association for FLAC file, set to MC. So the FLAC files are being played by the associated application, MC. What happens when MC isn't installed on the PC that accesses Cloudplay on the web? I guess I haven't read up on the intended use of Cloudplay on the web. Does it always have to have MC installed, or at least an App that can open mpl playlists and play FLAC files? I thought it might just play in the browser if there was no such App, but now I'm not so sure.
Now if I click on the download icon next to a playlist, we hit some trouble. IE actually asks if I want to allow the website to open an App on my computer. See second image. When I select Allow, then I get the third image, and can't go any further. Selecting "Look for an app in the store" and clicking OK opens the Windows Store and searches for "localhost". Naturally, that is meaningless. The URL behind that download icon, which is as I mentioned above similar to "localhost:52199/MCWS/v1/SharedPlaylists?function=download&downloadtype=playlist&id=1882", is not structured correctly for use on the website.
So the Play icon can download or open a playlist, and hence it will be played in the associated application (i.e. MC), and the Download icon can't actually do anything.
CountryBumkin, sorry this doesn't help you much. Does your fourth computer use the IE engine in MC, which would explain why it works? It is still quite possible that router settings play a part, or there could be a combination of security software and browser settings that are at fault here. The trouble is, the default settings for both should be sufficient. Cloudplay shouldn't need special attention. I for one will be careful in loosening any security controls.
-
I created an account and verified it, made a playlist of 5 songs and in the playlist the upload to cloud is greyed out.
I can drag the playlist to the red cloud icon and after a few seconds it says failed and try again later.
No other message or hint of the issue...
Cloudplay only works with a licensed copy of Media Center. Are you still in the trial period? The only other reason that I'm aware of for it to be greyed out in the menu is if you manually turned off the Cloudplay feature in the Options / General / Features area.
-
CountryBumpkin: please see if switching to the IE internal browser in MC allows you to use Cloudplay. Hopefully we'll get this sorted out in the next couple days.
-
Well after a reboot of my PC, and using the Chromium engine in MC, Cloudplay is still working.
I conclude that my Smart Firewall was the problem, and it learned something when I turned it off temporarily and retained that learning. That is rather annoying, as the Norton Firewall is supposed to notify me if it is blocking something. So it probably isn't something as simple as blocking a communication type, but some call and response process is being interrupted or something.
Unfortunately, I can't quickly find any change to my firewall settings that has allowed Cloudplay to work. There is nothing in the firewall log, other than recording it was turned off, then later back on. (Well, actually it was still blocking some activity. Firewalls are never really completely off!) I may look again later, and on my HTPC which has the same setup, but hasn't yet had Cloudplay fixed. If anyone has any hints as to what to look for in the firewall, what communication types are used by Cloudplay that may have been blocked, or anything that could narrow my search, that would be great.
So CountryBumkin, try shutting off your firewall on those troublesome PCs for a while, test Cloudplay, and if it works, then turn the firewall back on. Maybe that is all that is required.
-
When I try and Sign Up using my Forum Name, email address and password I get the response "That user name already exists."
When I try and Sign Up using a new UserName I get the response "Email This email address is already in use"
Any ideas as to how to fix?
-
Okay, I have fixed Cloudplay on my HTPC. Very simply.
All I had to do was switch MC to using the IE browser, restarted MC to get the login prompt in Cloudplay (but could have probably got that by properly closing the Cloudplay tab and reopening it), check Cloudplay was working, then switched back to the Chromium browser engine.
Cloudplay then worked fine within MC, using the Chromium browser engine.
Probably still was an issue with one of the features on my firewall, most likely SONAR, which is a heuristic firewall feature. Somehow IE "trained" Norton to allow Cloudplay, and then Chromium was able to also run Cloudplay.
Security software will save us from ourselves, but not from its own vagaries.
-
I am trying out the CloudPlay feature. I like the idea. I uploaded a playlist with highres (96/24) files. My first choice here is usually for (highres) music I own and which is not available in highres through Qobuz to which I subscribe (or any other commercial streaming service).
1. I noticed that the upload is very slow (3GB of music took more than 2 hours; normally it takes less that 15 minutes when I use Dropbox, OneDrive, etc.). What is the target upload speed given a fast internet connection;
2. When playing through JRiver the buffering is slow (compared to Qobuz, Tidal, Highresaudio, etc.). An effect is that gapless playing is not working which is annoying when listening to music where gapless is a "must".
Some remarks: I like the feature very much as I am looking for ways to listen to my music away from my home and: 1. which is not available in Qobuz (or Tidal, Highresaudio for that matter); 2. Does not compromise the bitperfect play-out, i.e. it should play natively DSD and Highres (DXD, 192/24). That is why I do not list through webplayers or browsers); 3. Supports gapless playback; 4. Allows to upload my entire DSD collection and other highres (96/24 up to DXD)not in commercial streaming services; 5. Allows us to upload albums and preserve the album structure and not just a list of tracks.
-

That worked!. Switched to IE, Cloudplay works.
I tried that before and it didn't work, however I don't recall now if I closed MC and reopened it after the change, as I did this time.
NEW: I went to the other computer and switched to IE without a restart and Cloudplay works there too now. So mark it up to user error. ;)
-
That sounds like the bug I had a few weeks ago where cloudplay would not work in MC chromium until you had logged into cloudplay via an external Chrome browser which seemed to set up some cookie that cloudplay needed and would them be available for MC chromium. Thought it had been fixed though (mind you there was another issue also that reared it's head again last week that I thought had been resolved also).
-

Try switching back to Chromium now CountryBumkin, and see if it still works. I prefer Chromium in MC, so that is what I did.
where cloudplay would not work in MC chromium until you had logged into cloudplay via an external Chrome browser
I don't know. I had logged into Cloudplay on Chrome a week or so earlier, and did it again before switching to IE. Cloudplay still didn't work. I think it was the firewall heuristics.
-
Hi Mark,
Please try registering again. I don't see it either.
Jim
I figured it out, I have some Classic playlists up now.

We'll check tomorrow. Sorry for the problem.
-
Switched back to Chromium and Cloudplay still works!
Excellent! I think that is one for the "Weird and Unusual" thread Jim.
What firewall heuristics do are pretty much invisible with Norton. But I don't actually know what component of my firewall was the issue. The fact it still works for Countrybumkin would imply that Windows Defender uses the same type of functionality.
So a new tool in the kitbag: When something that uses the browser engine in MC doesn't work, don't just switch browsers and be done with it. Switch browser, test, if working switch back, test. If fixed, Firewall heuristics.

Well done finding the answer. Thanks.

Hi..... Ive upgraded to 25.0.18 for Mac and when Cloudplay asks for my email and password , it says invalid user name or password .i never logged in on the original Doctor Who so I tried to register but it says User Name already exists Ive tried on a browser outside of MC and the same thing happens ...thanks for any help

Using 25.0.18 I had to switch to IE to get Cloudplay to work. Soon after, I upgraded to 25.0.24 and now I can't upload to cloud because I get a warning far all songs "Reason: Must have embedded cover art.". All songs do have cover art.

On both of your questions, the answer is, "We're still learning." We hope to improve both, but the server belongs to Amazon.
We will probably not allow DSD or anything so large. At least, not anytime soon.

Ive tried to upload a playlist and get art is embedded and a fail. How do I correct this ?

We're working on a fix for this and it should be available tomorrow. It will require updating MC25.

Try the "Forgot your password?" link on the sign-in page. It will send an email to your forum email address (....@yahoo.com) with a link to a page where you can choose a new password for cloudplay.

I think your files were missing embedded cover art. For now, it's required. Later, we will find a solution that doesn't require it.
-
I am running build 25.0.24.
The uploaded tracks are still being imported into the library making them duplicated with the local and the cloud versions.
-
I think your files were missing embedded cover art. For now, it's required. Later, we will find a solution that doesn't require it.
What's the easiest way to embed coverart? I have Options > File Location > Also store image in file's tag checked. I right click an album that fails Cloudplay, select Cover Art > Quick Find (the file that I want is in the folder - but I also tried Get From Internet). I go back to the playlist, chose Upload to Cloud, and these files still say no embedded cover art.
EDIT: the files are on a linux share, I 777'd them, still no update to the files when I do this from MC.
-
Try Update Tags from Library.

Thanks! That appears to have been the missing link.
-
I upgraded to 25.0.24 and now I can't upload to cloud because I get a warning far all songs "Reason: Must have embedded cover art.". All songs do have cover art.
This was probably unrelated to the upgrade. Maybe I rebuilt thumbnails.
My playlists that I couldn't upload had a value of "folder.jpg" for the [Image File] fields. I did an update from tags to obtain a value of "Inside File", and now the playlists will upload.
All files have had embedded art the entire time but it looks like I couldn't upload because MC was using the folder.jpg.

One thing I noticed that I thought was odd. I uploaded a playlist from my MC server via RDP. So I walked away before it was done. The next day I then opened MC on my Mac and tried to play the playlist. It wasn't under Cloud, so I closed MC and reopened, still not there. I went to the Cloudplay section, found my name, it showed the new playlist, I hit play and a dialog showed up saying Nothing to Play. I tried to download the playlist, and it also failed. Then I re-RDP'd to my MC server and saw a dialog on the screen that the upload was done. I clicked ok, then I got an email and the playlist showed up on my Mac. I don't think these last steps should wait for the user to click OK, I think they should happen when the actual upload is done.
-
If you're having a problem with playback of Cloudplay playlists and you're using MC25.0.24, we've found a problem that you can work around by checking these options in Media Network settings:
- Disable audio buffer to disk (for low powered systems)
- Disable audio buffer to disk (for low powered systems)
We should have a fix in the next build of MC25, but checking those should allow smooth playback.

I uploaded a Playlist to the cloud and every song i uploaded was removed from my library the physical file was gone, the entry in the library then pointed to the cloud version, is this supposed to happen ?

No. They're probably still there, just not where you expect. Try a search or search from Explorer.

A problem and question and a request.
The problem is the error message when trying to upload a playlist:"Errors prevented uploading one or more playlist tracks" Any suggestions on what I should look at? They are all flac with a sample rates of 44.1 or 48 with embedded cover art.
The question is....other users cannot actually see or play the actual list? I enjoy working on playlists, and would welcome sharing some. Contributing them for possible random sorting on streaming radio does not quite offer the pleasure of curating a listening session.
The request is, would it be possible to either accept or convert on your side, tracks with sample rates higher than 48000? I had several tracks pop up in a message saying they would be deleted from the playlist because they (in this case) were not 44.1 or 48. After spending considerable time with sequencing I did not want them deleted. I had no idea how to change the sample rate but have since figured it out (Audacity worked great, after a learning curve). My library has enough tracks with sample rates higher than 48 that this would a burdon that I would likely not be inclined to deal with. If you can automate the change of sample rate when necessary, would be a welcome assist.

I agree with this. Whether it's sample rate, number of channels, format, or whatever, users aren't going to be willing to convert their library contents just to satisfy the requirements of Cloudplay. I've set up a separate library for uploading for now, but I don't really want to keep doing this indefinitely. Cloudplay should accept the tracks as they are, and convert as necessary on the server.
-
Some higher bitrate/sample rate files are allowed now.

Cross fade and volume leveling work with Cloudplay.

Okay, so this is absolutely fantastic ;D
I have JRiver installed on my laptop for work and I can play excellent sounding tunes via cloud playlists.
Amazing, amazing, amazing...love it!!! A+++++++++++
Finding all kinds of new music to boot, wonderful.
Great job JRiver guys:)

JohnT's update on his progress with Cloudplay:
Almost ready for today's MC build:
1. substitute tracks from local library when available for cloudplay
url's in media center when Play button is clicked (already does this for
the Download button), solves duplicate track problem
2. fix problem of one or more tracks failing to upload and then playlist
doesn't get created
3. encrypt radio jriver playlist track names prior to playback using
Play button on web page (s3 urls are currently visible), already does
this for the Download button)
Live now on production server:
1. allow user to change their username as well as email
2. search for user in web interface
3. restrict playlists to correct limit
In progress in Media Center (and server):
1. make sign-in and authentication from MC and web browser work on all
platforms and with chromium
2. look at action window handling, if there's an upload action window
and the user right-clicks another playlist and selects upload, it should ask
if they want to replace or add to their current music selection
In progress on server:
1. make play/download work in standalone web browser
2. upvote and downvote playlists
3. integrate Cloudplay with Play Doctor
Further down the list:
1. nicer search interface, view by playlists or users, or
keyword/genres, new playlists, favorites, followed users, etc.
2. fix email confirmation (for the time being, it's not doing confirmation)
3. automatic format conversion and cover art addition when needed for
files to be uploaded
4. Nicer web view of playlists. Image & notes tied to playlists.
5. ability to flag playlists (obscenity, etc.)
6. more thorough search for existence of duplicate content files on S3
and merge them while tracking who uploaded them so they don't get
charged for listening/downloading them (new xref table in database)
7. content management - normal users for their own playlists, admin for
all users/playlists/contents/usage, interface for admins to build and
manage 'radio stations'
8. automate usage reporting system
-
Just a heads up, I downloaded one of my playlists from cloudplay while I was in my main library which reads tracks from HD F:. The downloaded tracks were partially converted into local files (about 5 of 18 were not). Strangely, the local files had addresses on my NAS drive which I find a bit odd as I was expecting the translation to reference my main library file source, drive F:, since the current behaviour actually introduces duplicates rather than preventing them.
-
If I click on a music style in Radio JRiver it opens a new browser window in which a .mpl file is downloaded. Nothing else happens.
If I click on the file in my download folder nothing happens.
How can I listen to Radio JRiver?
Thanks,
Ton

What is your OS?
mpl is a playlist file. Try File >Open File and select it.
-
I think it would be nice to have an "About Me" for users - or use a better name if you can think of something. It would be a place for users to tell a little something about themselves, and would be displayed along with their playlists.

MC 25.0.33 64 bit. Cloudplay Playlists show all playlists, but none of them have the Play or Download buttons - just blank. Had them in previous build, and have them in browser (https://user.jriver.com/), although in Chrome the Play button defaults to downloading the playlist and the Download button does nothing, and in Edge the Play button does nothing and the Download button brings a popup "You'll need a new app to open this localhost". Am I missing something?
Update/correction: In Edge, the Play button now gives a popup with choices of playing or downloading the playlist. The Download button downloads. I have no idea what changed since my original post, except that I rebooted. Chrome behavior unchanged, as is Media Center.
Any ideas on this? I'm unable to play any Cloudplay music in MC due to this problem. Updated to 25.0.40 but same problem. I've added a screenshot of what I see.

Hi
I have uploaded three playlists now. Because of saving coverart as folder.jpg in the same folder as the regarding audio files and not in the files itself, I, and all others, don't see any coverart to the songs during playing. Not so good. Any chance to edit it afterwards?
-
JohnT installed a new version of the server today, so there are a few changes:
1. The GUI is improved so more users can be viewed at once, making it easier to scroll through the list.
2. The popup information on the track list is now gone and replace by similar functionality in the main interface.
3. Several bugs were fixed.
4. You'll see Radio JRiver stations at the top. Only Eclectic is there so far, but we'll add others.
5. Likes were introduced for playlists. Click on the heart symbol to add or remove a like.
-
How does the licensing work for CloudPlay? Do the artists involved receive any money when one of their tracks is streamed?

I can only use cloudplay and jradio on my local player. It won't give any sound on other devices connected by BubbleUPnP.
How to fix this?
-
How does the licensing work for CloudPlay? Do the artists involved receive any money when one of their tracks is streamed?
Yes, but the royalties are collected by services who then divide the money.
-
I'm sorry if this has already been answered, but can I upload my own songs and playlists that are LOCAL on my computer to cloudplay so that I can play them when I am away from my computer?
-
On both of your questions, the answer is, "We're still learning." We hope to improve both, but the server belongs to Amazon.
We will probably not allow DSD or anything so large. At least, not anytime soon.
That's unfortunate. I would certainly love to be able to upload and download DSD, even if there is a fee involved.
-

Yes, that's exactly what it's for.
At this time, you need to use MC to play them.

I am having problems signing up as well. User name is the same as here. I never received the confirmation email.
I am told the email is already confirmed, but that's not true. I am not able to sign in.

I am told the email is already confirmed, but that's not true. I am not able to sign in.
Did you sign up before?
Did you check your spam folder for the confirmation?
-
I was trying it out, but I ran into some road blocks.
1. It seems only flac and apple lossless are supported. I use AIFF. Perhaps on-the-fly transcoding could be added in the future? Or even better totally lossless streaming is supported (wav/aiff)
2. Art work must be embedded into the files metadata. I make it a rule not to do this. My artwork is stored as an external "folder.jpg" file. Perhaps auto embedding image files could be included in a only-the-fly transcoding feature?
The Cloudplay is a great idea, but I'd hate to disturb my collection for it.
-
Did you sign up before?
Not that I recall.
Did you check your spam folder for the confirmation?
Yes, and it wasn't there.
Is there any visual indication that one is signed in ? When I sign in with the user and password, I don't get an error. But apparently nothing happens either.
-

Try the Forgot Password link on the sign in page - worked for me. You should get an email to reset and then it seems to work.

Got signed in today and uploaded my first playlist. All went pretty smooth. My issue is that searching for music does not work very well for a few reasons.
1) the search engine returns different results for the same search. I used R&B and Pop in my playlist title and decided to search for those terms. Sometimes it brought up my playlist and sometimes someone elses playlist with no Pop or R&B in the title was returned as a hit.
2) Playlist naming by participants is all over the place. Sickmusic or Fred's Faves or playlist 2.2019 doesn't tell me a thing.
This Cloudplay idea has fantastic potential but to make it useful it needs a much better search engine. Also, uploaders are going to need to be forced to enter some metadata that can be searched on. With the library growing for it to actually be useful for finding new music it needs at least these basic improvements. I figured all the music attributes I have with my music like date released, genre, album artwork, etc would be captured but that doesn't seem the case. Those would make this really useful.
-
Thanks for the feedback. We're still working on search and many other aspects.
I find that I explore playlists of users, one at a time, and after a while, I've found certain users whose taste I like. In the future, we should be able to automate this a little.
-

I'm new to the forum but have been using jriver for over a year and am failing to get the cloud play feature to work. The wiki docs doesn't match what what I see when I try to use is (v25, btw). Here's what I did:
Click Playlists/cloudplay
Click Playlist
Try to sign up.
At this point I get an error saying "We're sorry but something went wrong. If you are the application owner check the logs for more information." And now, that error comes up every time immediately after clicking "Playlists" or "Radio JRiver".
What is going wrong here? Is there any accurate documentation about how to use this feature? (Other than reading hundreds of messages, of course)

I created a test playlist with 5 high-resolution flac files from different artists and albums. I clicked "Upload to Cloud" and it informed me it uploaded it and saved an MPL file on my desktop. The MPL has only one file in it, the last one. When I look at the upload details, the first four say "failed". The MPL will open the one successful file.
I repeated "Upload to cloud", then clicked "Details" and it shows all five files "In Queue". After clicking "Upload", I'm immediately presented with an error dialog, "Errors prevented uploading one or more playlist tracks. Please try again later."
The first four files existed during previous efforts to upload, but the 5th file was an AIF which doesn't seem to be supported. I replace it with a flac in the playlist, and that file seems to be the only one I can play. When I visit my Cloudplay from within MC or a web browser, it does not show that any files or playlists exist. I switched to IE within MC before I tried uploading anything.
MC 25.0.37 64-bit win10
-
@BigMikeSantaCruz - I don't see your username anywhere in cloudplay.
-
Mike,
Please test ordinary FLAC files first. Not all formats are supported.
-
Hi,
I apologize if earlier there was an answer to my question. Why not possible to upload *.wav files?
Best regads,
Roma.
-
No. We don't expect to support WAV. It's twice the storage and bandwidth, with no advantage over lossless formats.
-
I am unable to sign up for Cloudplay. I have tried inside MC (Media Center 25.0.039 (64 bit)) and also in my browser (Chrome). I have the MC browser set to IE. No error message is displayed. The password fields just come back cleared. Any help would be appreciated.
-
@BigMikeSantaCruz - I don't see your username anywhere in cloudplay.
It's the same name as I use here.
Mike,
Please test ordinary FLAC files first. Not all formats are supported.
Yes, all 5 files are stereo FLAC files.
-
Can't see you in cloudplay with or without uploaded content selected in options - something must be awry!
-
I think it would be nice to have an "About Me" for users - or use a better name if you can think of something. It would be a place for users to tell a little something about themselves, and would be displayed along with their playlists.
Good idea. We might try it. I'm always curious.

Win 10 1803/17134.706
Are you logged in? Is MC25 registered or in a trial period?
-
I created a test playlist with 5 high-resolution flac files from different artists and albums.
Hi-Res would be considered a normal FLAC file. Try 44.1 Khz / 16 bit files.
-
Hi JimH - as I pointed out BigMikeSantaCruz doesn't seem to appear in the users list in cloudplay.

It's 25.0.37 64bit on an Intel NUC running Win10.
I restarted MC, clicked Cloudplay, and tried to sign up but after clicking the [Sign Up] button to submit the form, the form just comes right back with the passwords emptied out. No error reported. Hmm, is there an undocumented password requirement, like length or symbols, or caps or something?
-
I'd like to see Cloudplay available as a streaming service on BlueSound's BluOS.
-
Are you logged in? Is MC25 registered or in a trial period?
I am logged in, have logged out and back in several times. MC25 is registered, now on 25.0.37. I added a screen shot later, did you see that?

Tried 25.0.40 and the same exact thing happens. Tried changing the browser from Chromium to IE with no affect. I wish there was an error message rather than just continually redisplaying the same screen.

Security software?

I'm having the same problem. Reported above, earlier today.

Security software?
Webroot security software. Disabling it makes no difference. Same with VPN.

Cloudplay refuses my attempts to register.
I fill out my correct forum username, email and select a new 20 digit password and confirm it in the last field - on hitting enter it keeps blanking both password fields out leaving just the username, email fields intact.
I've tried shorter passwords, passwords with no hexadecimals or special characters, same result, just cannot register.
Thanx

Is there a list somewhere of filetypes which are supported right now, and which ones will be included in the future?

Is there a list somewhere of filetypes which are supported right now, and which ones will be included in the future?
Not yet. Sorry. I'll add something to the instructions but it will soon be out of date.
Assume for now that common lossless formats will work:
44.1/16 FLAC, APE, or ALAC.
Limited Hi-Res (above 44.1/16).
No WAV because of bandwidth considerations.

I'm sorry for the problem. We apparently broke it on Friday afternoon. It will probably not be fixed until Monday.
Some new users have been successful, but they may have signed up earlier, and not uploaded any playlists.
-
If you're having trouble using Cloudplay, do you have a valid MC25 license installed? It's possible that the Trial Period version won't work. Just a guess.
-
Is there a way to have Wav tracks converted before uploading automatically? I have allot of files in wav format and this can be cumbersome because I have all these files on a network drive. if not then can this be a consideration for future development?

Yes, I installed 25.0.40 yesterday after you posted the link. Are there any special password requirements?
BTW, in reply to another questions I bought MC last year and upgraded to 25 a few weeks ago. It's not a trial version.
But, it's the weekend so don't knock yourself out trying to solve this today. Tomorrow's another day.

Did you check your SPAM folder?
Yes I did and no email with password. I apologise my English is not good.

Hi, just two short question:
1. how to edit Avatar? I see no option to do it...
2. how to add additional files to uploaded playlist?

Just add the files in your playlist and upload it again. Only the new files will be uploaded.

A feature for question 1 is coming soon, we'll be making some additions to user profile options. Follow Jim's advice for question 2.

Sounds like you had the same issue as Labeyrie where the webpage was displaying a message but a bug caused it to be obscured so you couldn't see what it said. Our database shows that you were actually signed in on Friday. Please try Signing In (not signing up) with the original email and password you used the first time you tried signing up. Then click the Cloudplay text in the upper left to refresh the browser and see if it works for you. If not, let us know and I'll reset your password and send you an email.

This, along with Radio JRiver, in JRemote, is what I am hanging out for... Then music in the car will no longer be dependent upon the server running at home.

I've been listening to some of the playlists and wrote about it here:

At this time, the limit is 2000 files. This may change.
My husband has a 15,000 CD collection of Vietnamese music that I think is in dire need of digitization. I know he would want it in lossless format only. If there is ever a chance of uploading that many discs, I think I would contribute them.
I have about 1,000 classical CDs and SACD also.
2000 files is not so many.
-
Looking forward to hearing them :D

Signing in didn't work. It just shows the screen again with a blank password. Clicking the upper left [Cloudplay] link does the same except it also clears the email field.
[edit] So yes, please reset and email my password.

Tried but did not work.
I added missing files to the playlist, put them on top of the list and then tried to upload to cloud.
Program started trying uploading all files and for each song (new and existing) reported "failed". I will have to investigate it...
-
'Cloudplay is now in the tree on the left, just below Audio, Video, and Images.'
but I cannot see the tree. Should I enable cloudplay in the Options somewhere??

I am seeing the same. I went as far as deleting my playlist in Cloudplay, but I can still play the playlist using the shortcut that was placed on my desktop as well as the link from the e-mail as if the tracks and playlist are still on the server but removed from the GUI.

Is your playlist called 'Test Audiophile hifi demonstration' ? That looks good and is available under user 'Planktoni'. There was a problem with your account which may have caused some confusion but that has been fixed so it should be smoother going forward. The 'already exists' message is normal and not an error. It just means that the playlist you are uploading will use an identical song track that already exists on the server rather than re-uploading it.

The tracks aren't removed unless you delete your account, and even then, the playlists may continue working if another user has uploaded the same songs. Have your playlist updates worked ok since the fix last night?
-

No, the playlist is missing in Cloudplay because I deleted it (Southern Living), but when I try to upload it again after adding more tracks to the playlist, even changing the name of the playlist, all files say "Existing" and only new files attempt to upload.
-
If the tracks already exist on our server, then your uploaded playlist should be able to use them.
-
... all files say "Existing" and only new files attempt to upload.
That's the way it's designed to work. A checksum of the file contents is stored in a database and if you upload the same song again the server will say that there's no need to re-upload it and move on to the next track. You never need to delete a playlist if you just want to change it's content - just upload the newly modified playlist from Media Center and the one in Cloudplay will reflect the changes. I see your "Southern Living" playlist with 65 tracks and it's working fine for me. Gotta love that southern bluesy rock!
Edit: I just noticed you said you renamed the playlist. What's the new name?
-

JohnT, I tried renaming it yesterday and it errored. Now, after uploading the playlist again, all 65 files are showing. I'm going to assume this is fixed from what you did last night and from me actually uploading the playlist again. Sorry for all the confusion. Thanks for the help on this!

Not sure this is the right place to post since it concerns the Linux version version interfacing with Cloudplay. Apologies if I'm in the wrong forum
I'm running 25.0.41 in an Ubuntu docker container based on https://github.com/cassfras21/docker-jrivermc. Everything seems to work so far except uploading playlists to Cloudplay - when I try to upload a playlist it says that I must be signed in but the page shows that I am, in fact, signed in -- it shows my username and I can go to my profile all within the media center application. I've signed out and back in within the media center application and get the same results. I've done some searching but haven't found anything that seems useful. I'm wondering if I need to pass more ports thru to the container. JRemote seems to be able to work with the media server so I know at least some of the ports are passed thru OK.
Any suggestions are welcome.
You might ask why am I running it in a container? Well, aside from the fact that I prefer the independence that containers give me (e.g. I don't have to worry about upgrading incompatible libraries and such), I'm currently on a VERY downlevel Ubuntu and haven't had the time to upgrade my distro.
-
Cloudplay isn't completely working on Linux. Soon, we hope.
-
Ah, OK, thanks Jim. Good to know it may not be me.
-
If family and friends purchase jriver, can they stream and listen to the playlists on cloudplay?
-
Yes.
-

It appears that the text from the "notes" field from MC is no longer appearing on the CloudPlay playlists.
Is this intentional? I thought it was a good idea; I used it to offer a short explanation of the playlist. It needs to be brought back.

Sorry for the troubles. We are aware of several problems with Cloudplay on the Mac and Linux platforms. We will have a fix out sometime in the next couple of weeks. I'd suggest waiting until you see something in the release notes for a new build about fixing the Cloudplay issue. Again, sorry for the delay and I hope you'll re-visit when it's been fixed for Linux.

Thanks again. I don't run an always-on Windows instance anymore, it's been replaced by a Linux server. Uploading those playlists is something that, for me, makes more sense to do from my Linux box...it takes a LONG time. I'm keeping an eye on the Linux threads and will try when you post something there.
-
Thank you JRiver for Cloudplay. The world seems to be going in this direction and I think you guys are on the right track. I just tried the new Cloudplay feature in Play Doctor and got a nice mixture of tracks from the cloud and myself. Good stuff.
I do have a question about JRemote. Even though I can control the playlist selections on my iPad once the playlist has been created and started, the Cloudplay feature doesn't appear in my IPad as it does on my computer. Do you have plans to include it in an IOS update? Thanks.
-
We do. Thanks.
-
I am using a new computer (last fall), Windows 10 and JRiver 25.0.40. I have done the primary list of exclusions as part of the instructions from the thread Taming Windows Defender on Windows 10
I did not go through the longer, secondary list of exclusions.
I continue to be disappointed in that I cannot sign in to Cloudplay. I was able to sign in once, only after requesting a new password. However, I have not been able to sign in since then. I can log in over the web and download and play from the listed playlists, but I cannot upload any playlists or otherwise access Cloudplay through JRiver.
Is this going to be a persistent problem, or will it get figured out over time?
Lucifigus
-
I don't think that's a problem on our end. Sorry.
-
Cloudplay has two new Radio JRiver buttons at the top of the playlist window. Eclectic and Classical. We'll add two more next week.
The content is completely that of TedR now and it's great. The sets of playlists that make up the stations are much longer now, so you're less likely to hear repeats.
-
If I delete my account at Cloudplay do my songs get deleted too?
-
Your playlists get deleted. Songs are preserved.

I thought album art was required on all uploads to Cloudplay but for some reason album art doesn't appear on many of the downloaded playlists I've done. Am I mistaken or is there a problem somewhere?
-
I wanted to upload HD tracks with 9000+ bitrates but they are not accepted because they are in wav. Why is wav not accepted?
-
When I upload a playlist, sometimes not all songs are uploaded. It says for a few or one song "failed". How can I solve this out?

Are they lossless files?
You can always try again. Uploads won't be repeated if they worked the first time.

Questions on display options.
1) In just clicking around trying to sign in got a display that showed each contributor's name and then indented under their name a list of their playlists. I cannot get this display again. Is there a way to do this? This was a better view to peruse available playlist titles - currently I have to click on each uploaders name to then get the playlists they uploaded to display.
2) How do you change the width of the field that displays your name and uploaded lists to make it smaller so the names of contributors is wider?
Different topic - I tried to upload a new playlist today and got a message that the system was unavailable.

Yes they are lossless FLAC.
I tried again and then it works - thanks.
I just upload full albums, and not just mixed songs playlists - is this ok?

We can't use full albums for radio or it changes the license category. It's OK for you to stream them yourself, but if we're offering them to other users, it's a different license, which we want to avoid.
Mixed playlists are the most useful. Thanks for asking.
-
Thanks JimH for the clear answer - I understand.
Another question: There is a limit of 2000 files to upload. Is this in total per user or maximum per one upload?
-
It's currently 2000 total files. We recommend playlists of around 50 tracks.
-
Yes, that's exactly what it's for.
At this time, you need to use MC to play them.
Hello again.
I was able to sign up, verify by email, log in and view/listen to other playlists, however, the initial Cloudplay screen gives me no option to upload, only listen to other playlists and Radio JRiver. I signed out and logged back in to no avail.
Thanks.

Upload from MC25. Right click on any playlist of lossless files.
Instructions are here:

"Cloudplay is now in the tree on the left, just below Audio, Video, and Images.
Click on it.
Choose Upload Playlists"
Sorry. I've read that thread a dozen times and it gets me nowhere. This ^ is where you lose me. I can't make this happen. If i access "Playlists" in the tree, either before or after starting Cloudplay, there is no option to send anything to Cloudplay. Not sure what I'm missing.

I edited that to improve clarity. This is the important sentence:
You can then upload playlists from MC > Playlists -- right click on any lossless playlist and choose "Upload to Cloud".

Upload To Cloud is ticked under Features
This was the issue. I must have missed where it was originally mentioned.
Thanks again for your help.

I am not getting any responses to this post. I responded to all of your questions and added/updated relevant information. I also added a screenshot to show what I am seeing - the relevant part is there is no Play or Download icons, so I cannot use Cloudplay from MediaCenter. Your last response was 17 May. Can you please respond, or let me know if I am doing something wrong?

Iīm not so sure if the absolutely no mp3īs stance is quite that benefitial. Whatīs wrong with a simple quality filter checkbox? Display lossy files yes/no. You could also try to replace duplicate files with the highest quality one. That could be pretty hard though...
Otherwise, do some quality control. Some mp3īs are really garbage. But many are just fine. I wonder what do you do when I convert my mp3 to flac? ? hm...
Itīs not that I would not rather have lossless if I get to choose. But as it stands not all my songs are. And certainly wonīt ever be. You kinda just throw away parts of playlists, because they arenīt lossless. My experience with trying the upload feature for the first time has been this

Yeah.. file not local is also great. You could maybe consider to not rely on everything being local for new stuff you build? GetFile is a MCWS thing (Or at least it also is). Canīt you try just use the remote MCWS should it not be local?
Back to the mp3īs.
Apart from the songs Iīm just not going to repurchase there are also songs that you just literally CANNOT find lossless. Try the album "Soundmopi - Rise and Fall" for instance. You cannot get your hands on it in any format without digging for it. Paid or not paid, it does not matter. I even looked on ebay for CDs lul. I found it in 320kbit mp3īs somewhere. Canīt tell you where, I really donīt know anymore. Far away from the places I usually go to.

I'm sorry. I don't know. I see both icons, either in a stand-alone browser, or inside MC.
Maybe some screwball security thing? Or they're scrolled off the screen to the right?
What build of MC are you using?

They are not off the screen to the right as far as I can tell. I am using MC 25.0.49, but the issue has been here for several builds. I just found that it works fine on another PC with the same OS and MC builds. Must be something in the settings but I have no idea whatto try.
-
Security software could be causing that.
Make sure javascript is enabled in your browser.

I attach a screenshot showing track 8 from an album, which I added to a playlist. Like everything else in the playlist, it appears to have been added to the local library as a separate file that is part of the original album, alongside the original song. It is therefore played immediately after the original and I'm having to manually delete the files if I want to hear the album in the original. As you'll see from the screenshot, the file location is given as an http url. This appears to be a bug. Any advice?
-
What version of MC? That was fixed.
-
Thanks for your quick response. The last playlist was uploaded on May 6th, so it would be whatever the latest official version of Media Center was at that time. If it's been fixed since, then please accept my thanks.
-
I've noticed that the "composer" tag is empty for all the music tracks streamed from the cloud. I hope you can fix that as it's important, especially for classical and jazz tracks.
Thanks.
