1. Fixed: In some case when Theater View was shown, it wouldn't paint the entire screen.
2. NEW: Theater View accounts for aspect ratio (of screen and skin settings) when showing thumbnails.
3. Changed: Several tweaks to help sizing and readability of text in Theater View.
4. Fixed: Certain WMDM devices would not be fully removed if disconnected during an upload sequence.
5. NEW: Several optimizations that can substantially help thumbnailing speed in Theater View.
6. NEW: Enhanced library searching engine -- provides significant speedups in several areas. (most noticeable with large libraries)
7. Fixed: In some cases, tree auto-expand could expand an item that was manually collapsed when selecting a new item.
8. NEW: Added new view scheme component type "Search" -- allows searches in the tree, panes, and Theater View.
9. NEW: Added search functionality to Theater View for any Media Library view.

MediaCenter is consistently getting the capacity of CD-Rs wrong. I have some BenQ 48X 700MB CD-Rs and MediaCenter lists the capacity as about 678MB. If I ignore the warning when trying to burn a data CD, it quite happily burns the full 700MB.

Wow - that is seriously fast! A really good tweak. I've currently 4826 library entries, and it found a dozen matches for "picture" before I had even finished typing the word.

<edit> Also significantly faster searching the iPod.

hehe, I thought you may say something about that, I was going to say (no offence intended).
I though there might be problems with characters other than letters which I thought i'd test, I left and space where I knew the "-" was and put the other letters in and sure enough it found the song.
I wasn't sure how this could be implemented in theatre view but you have made it very easy and its quicker than I had imagined an interface like this would be.

ive been storing up a few bugs/errors until after the official release. here's what i can remember:

1) minor: with the thunderstorm skin, when the left hand pane cuts off the end of the folder (which is by design) the row highlighted has the red highlight bar curving at the rightermost end - surely it should be straight until the entire folder name is showing. try it you will see what i mean

2) there are some issues with the 'rename files from proerties' function. sometimes it has problems creating folders on network drives (if this occurs MC aborts out of the process). it also occasionally shows the message 'cant find file' (still cant determine why and which ones)

3) file > library > update library > external drive box checked isnt removing non-audio files that have the red x in them (which it used to)

Is it possible that the resulting path/name is hitting the maximum allowable number of characters for filenames? I ran into this before, where the "Rename from Properties" quit and told me that it couldn't complete the process on specific files. When I investigated further, I found that the name (including the path) that was resulting from this procedure was going beyond the windows 256 character limit. MC doesn't tell you when the path/name is too long, it just fails.

larry - thats a possibility i will look into it

J River - ive noticed that web media only appears when the 'all media' or 'audio' top right buttons are pressed. This is a little misleading as some of the stations i watch are video streams

If you select a file or files from within the MC window and choose Tools->Advanced Tools->CD Labeler and a field of the tag info contains an illegal file/path character (example ":"), Windows (running XPPro) will sound an error. If you then click "Preview", MC bails with:

MS VC++ Runtime Lib.
Runtime Error!
Program: c:\blah\...\CDLabeler.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I posted this about two releases ago (110???) and JohnT thought it may be related to images but I have found that it appears to be the character and not an image issue. And it looks like it will occur if an illegal (at the ":" character) is in any of the tag fields. This error seems to be a little odd because I would think having any character in the ID tag would be fine ([ISO-8859-1] characters in the range $20 - $FF) just not in the path/filename...

Please let me know if you need any more information.

I'm having a problem with the GetImageFile function of the MJFileAutomation object in Media center 10.0.110.

I'm using this object in my aTagger plug-in. aTagger is a .Net application written in C#.

The problem is that after I successfully retrieve a valid image file, subsequent calls to the function (with a different MJFileAutomation object) return the same filename (with the same contents). Additionally, when I exit my plug-in, all of cover art that I display within Media Center is the same image. After restarting Media Center cover art is back to normal.

PS: This problem has been around for quite a few builds. I couldn't say exactly when I first noticed it.

Problem finding cover art...

I have my cover art stored as folder.jpg in a directory for each album. MC does not detect it in some cases.

I have tried "Remove Cover Art" - no image, as expected.

Then "Quick Find in File/Cover Art Directory" - still no image, however the Action Window now says "folder.jpg"

Removed the cover art, then tried to add from file. The file shows up in the dialog box, but with no preview. Results same as the previous paragraph.

The thumbnail shows up fine in Windows explorer, and nothing seems to be wrong with the folder.jpg file itself, which opens fine in any number of image viewers.

[EDIT: ThumbsPlus (an image viewer) is telling me that the file in question is really a GIF (extension is wrong), saving as .jpg fixes the problem.

This has been happening for a few builds for me:

I'm ripping with two drives. If one cant find the info for a cd i go to the "volumes" view scheme find the "untitled" entry and delete it. Then I load up RealPlayer which finds the CD info. Go back to MC and it too sees the info.

Then, when I go to rip. MC crashes every time during "rip initialization.

If I open MC up again and try to rip it works fine.

Theater View does not take into account the normal amount of overscan on a TV monitor. The information is so close to the edges of the screen that it gets cut off on a typical TV.

The saving dialogue box is working better. In the cases were it was being maximized, it's going maximized and then a second later it's minimized... In some cases it show's both,

I guess this counts as a bug: MC thinks an album has cover art because it has a field pointing to "folder.jpg", but it doesn't display because it is really a GIF.

I either scan my own art, or use KingSparta's (excellent) plugin. I have a couple of ideas of how these misnamed files got there: I think the plugin may be saving art as "folder.jpg" regardless of the original name, including extension OR the site from which the art is taken might have the wrong extension. KingSparta, can you check?

My scanning workflow is automated in such a way that it is highly unlikely that GIFs would be named as .JPGs.

darkAngelChild, .jpg works as well as .bmp for this application and takes up a lot less space.

If it has no child searches (happens once you're down to only one hit with the search), it won't show a folder since you can't go into it.

This is by design.

This is the job of the video card / TV.

I use Theater View via S-Video to a TV all the time, and with my ATI card, you can configure it to make it fit perfectly.

Check for new drivers or settings in your TV.
