Since Upgrading to Sierra (10.12.4) Media Center has been extremely unstable - and problematic also with PS Audio Bridge over ethernet. It was much more stable on Yosemite.
I did upgrade to latest 22.0.08 and have found it no better than official release.
Any thoughts?

Recently (since upgrading from MC21 to 22) and the latest version I have noticed that whenever I launch JRemote on my iPad mini and it goes to connect to my computer that the currently playing song in MC abruptly stops and MC crashes. JRemote never does connect. This doesn't happen every time but about every other time. Never happened with MC21. Makes using it as a DLNA server mostly useless.

The above post bring up a good point . I'm also using JRemote and while it does work, sometimes when I connect (music is playing) the song playing stops And media center crashes. So pehaps it's the same issue - JRemote crashing MC.

Sounds like the same issue i'm having... not every time but at least half the time this happens.

I've had dozens of MC crashes when MC was being used as either a DLNA source, or as a DLNA "push". All of these happened with DLNA devices that had poor quality network connections.
I have never (that I can remember) had MC crash when connecting with a remote control program. I have only used Gizmo and EOS though. Not JRemote.
I wonder if the quality of the connection might be influencing this with JRemote also? Just guessing based upon my experience.
Brian.

I can't reproduce this.
Can you check the JRemote settings to see if any of the zone switching options are on?
Thanks.

Hi, no zone options are enabled.

You're just doing local playback on the Mac?
I'm not sure what this could be. We are using the most recent version of Sierra for testing.
Perhaps a log file might help?

I'm streaming over Ethernet to ps audio DAC / Bridge II .
It was quite stable under Yosemite.
How do I create a log file from MC?
-
I think what we're experiencing has something to do with jremote addressing MC while it's playing.... Again this is a new issues since going from Yosemite to Sierra.
-
Go to Help in MC
Turn on logging
Cause the crash
Restart MC, go into the logging function again and select to email the logs to us.
Turn off logging after sending the email.

here it is... didn't see an option to auto-email. it happens every time for me. absolutely every time now. must have been dreaming when i said every other.

What external devices do you have connected to the Mac and what build of MC are you on?

22.0.108
27" LED Cinema Display
USB3 hub
- USB microphone
- USB3 hard drive
- MCIntosh D100 DAC
that's it. JRemote used to work fine with MC21 or perhaps the problem arrived after upgrading to Sierra, not sure as I did both about the same time.

Can you pull the USB3 hard drive off for testing?
The log seems to indicate it's being looked at as a possible portable device.

except that is where my music library is and my DAC. never had a problem with the same connections just a month ago or so. perhaps have the software skip worrying about hard disks or at least the ones your library is hosted on.

I don't know if that's the issue, just trying to see if it is as a clue to the problem.
You wouldn't need to disconnect anything except the drive.
Start MC with the drive disconnected.
Choose a few files on the internal hard drive to play and see if you can duplicate the issue.
-
disconnected the hard disk and played some songs locally and it worked. reconnected the hard drive and it worked. not sure what this proves but it will probably fail again later. sounds like you need to adjust how it handles devices when JRemote connects.
-
How much HD space do you have on the drive JR is connected? I was having the same problems, but I bought a new HD with 1TB - so far (three hours of no skipping), I am convinced this worked better than anything else. Running Sierra on a MacPro.
-
Sorry, 1TB more than I had before.
-
happened again after the computer slept its monitor... restarted and it works again. not sure it is the hard disk but just random chance.
-
I read somewhere recently that the order in which the PS Audio Bridge is turned on matters, with respect to other devices. Try turning it on last or first.
-
I have found the same thing (re, order of start up) in practice. PSA DAC last to be powered up; however, moving to a larger drive has solved 90% of dropouts, save for my cable company updating at random times.
