Title: differences between Pono Music World and JRiver Media Center
Post by: 1jdub1 on March 30, 2015, 07:46:40 pm
Are there any functional or sonic differences between Pono Music World and JRiver Media Center on either MAC or PC?

Quite a few.

There are, obviously, quite a few functional differences between Media Center and PMW.  If you'd like to find out, download the full-featured trial (http://www.jriver.com/download.html) and give it a spin.

I'm reasonably positive the audio engine underneath is identical. John or someone can chime in and confirm, I'm sure.

I have PMW plus the full versions of JRiver MC.

From what I see PMW has a reduced feature set focused on audio only. What is there does appear to be the same as what is in the full versions.

There are also PMW specific features that are not in the full versions. These include integration with the music store to purchase, integration with the download manager to download purchases, ability to download and apply Pono Player firmware updates, and ability to sync music to the Pono Player.
