Title: Files wont be saved/read only - when switch off and back on have to re-import
Post by: IH520 on November 09, 2023, 10:25:05 am
I'm running MC19 on a Windows XP media player, with the music files on a Synology DS220j NAS. The media player has a stripped down version of XP, with no access to the Start Menu. MC has been working fine and then suddenly when I switch the media player on and it came up with the message

 - files won't be saved/read only pop-up.

Can anybody help me rectify this? It's taking about 1 1/2 hrs to re-import every time I want to listen to music.

Did you reboot?  And the NAS?

That sounds like the Windows XP message about your profile being corrupted. Can you attach a screenshot of the message?

If that's the case, Windows is using a TEMP profile and all your data is lost on reboot. The cause can be a failing hard disk (on the PC, not the NAS), or just corruption from not shutting down the PC correctly - since you mention "no start menu" I guess that's a strong possibility.
