Title: Does MC change files?

Hello. I'm new to MC (coming from iTunes). When I analyze my media or play media, does MC alter the source file? Does it update the file's metadata?

If yes, is there a way to not have source files changed?

I think I figured it out

Under Options / File Location / Cover art, there is a check box for "also store image in the files tag". Uncheck it.
Also, Options / General / Importing and Tagging - "Update Tags when File Info changes". Set sidecar saving mode to "Save in Sidecar only". "Create External Sidecar files for media types : Audio;Video.
