Title: 3d Album View on Mac OSX Lion?
Post by: Joubert on March 01, 2014, 03:01:59 pm
Hi - I just installed and started the trial of Mac MC 19.0.119 and am learning my way around .  Sorry if this question has already been covered..

When I attempt to switch to the 3D Album view using   View>customize view>View As>3D,  I get the following error message:  "Error starting Direct3d engine (unknown DirectX or hardware failure)."  Sometimes, the program also crashes and closes at this point.

Am I doing something wrong, or is this feature not working/available on OSX yet?

Thanks.

Answer: don't do that.

DirectX is a Windows-only API, and MC for the Mac still has some Window's references.  So, no 3D views yet.

Thanks.  Is it possible to use the 'theater view' option on the mac version?  I'd like to display albums as shown in the attached picture from the MC website.

The closest I can find on the mac version is the 'display view' which puts up an album cover, but no song tracks.  In display view, can the song titles appear?

Thanks.

If you can find Theater View in the View menu, you can use it. :-)

All of the visualizations and Theater View depend currently on Windows-only APIs, and these have not been converted to Mac OS equivalents.  I'd guess these features won't be available for a while.

I sure wish we had this view on the Mac side. In fact I wish we had as complete a product as on the Window side.
