JRiver Master License & Introductory Price
When we introduced the Mac and Linux versions of JRiver Media Center, we found that customers wanted a license that would work with all versions. Unfortunately, our licensing system couldn't do this.
We have some good news. You can now buy a Master License that works with all three operating systems.
It is available at a very special price -- $69.98 (regular price $79.98).
You can also upgrade to the master license for $24.98 through March 1 (regular price $29.98) from any MC20 license.
If you already own MC20 for any two of the operating systems, and they use the same e-mail address, we will send you a Master License free of charge by about February 4. You don't need to contact us for this.
Please visit our Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) for more details on how the new licensing works, and how you can verify your existing licensing.
----------
Please Note: New versions are required in order to use this license. They are on the Download Page.
Upgrade prices are available now if you have the latest build installed:
If you don't see the correct price, please don't complete the transaction.

Sweet!!!!!
Thank You.
-
The people who use more than one OS will be very happy. Good call!
-
Nice! I have licenses for all three. :D
-
If you've already purchased MC20 for any OS, you can upgrade to the master license for $24.98.
once we upgrade to master, what will future upgrades cost? (21, 22, etc)
thanks

I would assume that the upgrade to a "master" license does not invalidate previous licenses.
At least I hope not, because I don't intend on purchasing MC21 for Mac. I just don't use it nearly enough to justify the upgrade price.
-
Game changer.... sweet.

I have a licence for Mac and for windows for MC 20. Does this mean the master licence will be sent to me? Or do I have to get in contact
with someone to get it?
-

It has no effect on other licenses.
You'll still be able to upgrade single licenses. You will also be able to upgrade the Master License.

We will email you a license.
-
This is great news! Thanks for offering this new license type. I'll finally be able to use MC on my work Macbook.
Is there a special link for purchasing a Master license upgrade when you have a regular Windows license? When I tried to check out it showed me the full price ($44.98), even though I used the same email address.
-
What will be the upgrade fee when MC21 is released?

I assume from the last line in the original post it's not quite implemented yet. Sometime today by the looks of things.
-
Please see the first post and download one of the builds linked there.
-
What will be the upgrade fee when MC21 is released?
It's too soon to say anything definite, but there will be a discount.
-
If you've already purchased MC20 for any OS, you can upgrade to the master license for $24.98.
Upgrades to a Master License aren't yet available. Hopefully later today. They will be $19.98 until January 31, then $24.98.
Jim,
Sorry for being dense but is the upgrade going to be 19.98 or 24.98 if you already have a MC20 license for one of the OS?
-
$19.98 through January 31, then $24.98.

Nice!
Good news,
thanks !
-
Great start of the new year.
Thanks guys!
-
Just to be clear, if someone already has multiple licences then at some point in the near future, they will just receive an updated licence via email without having had to do anything. Right?

Yes, if the licenses are for MC20.

I just purchased my first JRiver license (MC 20 for Mac) less than a week ago (January 15). Is there any chance of a grace period for converting this to the new Master License version?
-
Thank you Jim and team for offering an upgrade path to a master licence.
As soon as the upgrade link works I will purchase ;D
-
I recently purchased MC20 for Windows and would also like to use MC on my Mac. Now I wanted to buy the master license for the reduced price of $19.98. But unfortunately only the price of $44.98 is shown at the end of the transaction process. Is there anything wrong or do I make a mistake here?
-
jensilein, you are not doing anything wrong, Jim just said it earlier today:

I purchased at January 17 :-[ Have I pay again for Master?

Upgrade prices are available now if you have the latest build installed:
Windows Download: http://files.jriver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter200059.exe
Mac Download: http://files.JRiver.com/mediacenter/channels/v20/latest/MediaCenter200059.dmg
If you don't see the correct price, please don't complete the transaction.

I downloaded .59 on my Windows PC, but under Registration Info it shows I have a "(registered Master license)". I'd love to think that I do, but I know I haven't purchased it yet!
I downloaded .59 on my Mac and tried my MC20 for Windows key, which confirmed that it's not actually a Master license and redirected me to the Purchase page for MC20 for Mac.
How can I purchase the upgrade?
-
When can we expect the mail for the master license when we have purchased v20 on more than 1 platform?
I think both my licenses are on the same email address but I have had an issue once so I want to make sure I don't miss it.
Thanks!
-
I installed the MC20 .59 on my mac (as by link posted herein above) and then purchased a master license, well, when i run the license file on my mac it doesn't work, under the registration info i can see "not registered".
I tried the same master license file on MC20 .59 windows version and it works.
Is there any issue related to the license installing on mac platform ?
-
I just purchased the Master License.
But how do I know if I have a Master License?
Under HELP > REGISTRATION INFO... it only says (registered Windows license)
-

Thanks for the purchase. Did you purchase it from within MC20? Is it possible you're running an older version?
-
I bought the V20 license for Linux...
I have installed on windows, but on the purchase page, I don't see the option to choose a master license...
This doesn't work from Linux either...
What do you advise?
Thanks
-
Make sure you have MC20.0.59 installed. It's at the top of this board.

Do it from the Help menu within MC20. See attached.

Yes, I have the latest version (.59) running...
I probably need to add as well that this is a fresh install of v20 on the windows box...
My registered v20 install is ruuning on Linux...
-
Hi,
I tried to upgrade to a master license since yesterday evening. I am running a registered 20.0.59 Windows version on Win8.1Pro.
No matter what I do (MC web internal or external Chrome or IE web purchase page), I just cannot get to the master license upgrade price.
And the help menu does not show what jtwrace posted, no sign of the "Upgrade to master licence" menu line...
If it helps, when I click on Help/Registration info, it tells me that I have a 20.0.59 (registered master license). Odd...
Hopefully the upcoming email will have a working web link where we can enter our actual (Windows only) registration code to purchase a master licence.

The next build will fix this problem. Sometime this morning.

just helped anotheruser in forum regarding registration/install keys - http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=94992.msg654229#msg654229
and i thought of another question...
right now we just own a license for version 20 windows which = 10 restores each year (or use to)
If i buy the Master licenses, does that increase restores as well?
Windows = 10
Linux = 10
Mac = 10
or would the restores be as follows?
Windows, Linux, Mac = 10
thanks
-
The next build will fix this problem. Sometime this morning.
I have just installed the .61 build on windows and still not able to purchase the master license upgrade...
I am suspecting this is because I do not have a registered windows v20 installed...
The purchase a master license goes straight to $44.98 and doesn't allow the option to choose for an upgrade...
I have a registered v20 on Linux, but since this is license upgrade is not working on Linux, is it correct to assume that only those who have a registered v20 running on windows or mac are allowed to purchase the master key update?
Thanks

Restore the MC20 for Windows license. Then you should see the upgrade price.
-
Game changer! Definitely buying now- thank you!
-
FYI - Running V61, could see and buy the Master Licence Upgrade at the correct price (via PayPal), download the MJR just fine but when I "run" the MJR, MC does not do anything (you normally get a Diagloge Box) and the Registration Information still says it is a Windows Licence.
Thanks
Nathan
-
I think it's failing to install a new license if you already have one. John is looking at it.
Thanks for the dough.
-
:) Happy to contribute... and who knows, one day I may install a non Windows OS!

FYI as well...I received the license file/key. tried multiple times on windows 7 to install it, it says it was successfully installed. upon closing jriver and reopening (using force close) When going back to help it still asks me to Upgrade to Master, and still states it's registered to me via a windows license. (tried multiple PC's they all give same results.)

I don't have the MC20 for Windows license... But I do have the MC20 for Linux license...
How do I get to purchase the master license?
Just to confirm that I have installed the .61 version in Linux, and the "upgrade to master key" option is available under help...
When I select the option to purchase from Linux, nothing happened... I was not redirected to the page to purchase... instead of that, I got two new emails... each one with a new temp key for Linux, and a decrease in number of restores remaining...
Thanks,
-
Me too. I bought the Master license through MC20, the .61 build. Successfully installed, still saying (registered Windows license) and still got the Upgrade to Master License... showing in Help.

FWIW, confirmed same issue here on 2 windows 7 machines, running 20.0.61 with the upgraded master license.
-
That should be fixed today, but there is no harm. It's just not letting you install a new license when you have one installed.
-
I have 2 licenses for OS X and one for Windows, but they were purchased with 2 different email addresses as I couldn't remember which one I used for the first purchase. Is there any way to combine these to get the Master License?
-
You can change your e-mail on the Restore Page. The Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) has a link.
-
Thanks for the purchase. Did you purchase it from within MC20? Is it possible you're running an older version?
Yeap. Purchased it within MC20. I'd make sure I have .59 before I made the purchase.
Think it is the same situation as xtacbyme below.

I confirm the same wrong behaviour on Windows 7 - it's still showing a Windows-only license.
-
Unable to upgrade here on W7. I've got latest build 20/61 (previously licensed) installed, but clicking on purchase from within MC only shows Master license option of $44.98, but not upgrade option of $19.98.
-
Install your license if needed. Then use the Help menu to purchase.
-
Thanks Jim, suddenly upgrading became clear and easy :)
-
I have the same issue. I purchased the master upgrade and installed it on MC 20.061 and it's still showing as a Windows registration key.
Michel.

Michel.
It might still show Windows if you also have a Windows license. There isn't a clear pecking order when we check licenses, so the first one we find that works we'll use.
As long as it installs, you're fine.
-
I'm seeing the same thing: Running licensed MC 20.061, bought and installed the master license upgrade but I'm still seeing under registration info that it's a Windows license.
Michel.
-
Matt, correct me if I was wrong. If we have installed the Master license for our MC20 in Windows 7, from a Windows version. No matter what it shows, just ignore the License Info to indicate it is a Windows license. But use the new Master license for installing other copies?
-

Yes.
It's harmless that it shows the Windows version as the active license. That'll work too!
-
If you install the new build:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=95020.0
It'll correctly pick a Master license instead of the Windows / Mac / Linux license when showing registration info.
-
I have a Windows MC20 license and I used my email that I purchased it with to upgrade my MC20 to a master license. At the last page of purchase I seen that the price was still 44.98. How come I didn't get the upgrade price. BTW, I didn't complete the transaction.

Try using the latest 20.0.62 build (you can find it in the sticky topic on top of this forum section) and selecting Upgrade to Master License from the Help menu.
-
I had the same issue, but it turns out the solution is easy. Launch the programme and go to the Help section (top left of screen) and click on 'upgrade to master license' and you should see the discounted upgrade price :)

Hello - I just did the 19.98 upgrade from Windows to Master JRiver 20.061. It seems there was no problem, I think, but I had to 'restore' my license, even though I had to use up another of my 'restores' from my windows jriver20 registration code from before. Does that mean I lost one of my 10 restores simply in order to upgrade?
A couple of other questions: I'm thinking of buying a mac computer, that's why I bought the master license, but I'm not sure when I'll actually buy it - it could be several months for now. I don't want to 'install' the new master jriver20 yet, as I don't want to lose the 15-day window for installation. Do I have to do something in the meantime anyway, or can I just sit on the new registration code (it's a new one that I just received after I did the upgrade to Master - it's different from my original Windows registration code) until I eventually get around to buying the mac (which could be even a year from now, if not longer)?
Meantime, what happens to my original registration code and windows jriver20? - I think someone asked this already, but do I lose my unused 'restores' for my original Windows JRiver 20? Or, if I use them, will I only be 'charged' against my Windows Jriver20 rather than against the new Master Jriver20? Would I have to (or even be able to) enter my original 'restore' (and if so, what registration code would I enter) if I don't want to install or do anything yet with the Master JRiver20?
I also, when I click on Help, get the upgrade prompt, and there's no evidence other than the email you all sent me separately with the new code, and my receipt, that I upgraded. Does this mean I have a 'hidden' master account in addition to the original windows jriver20 account? That is, do I have two accounts now, or just one, and if it's just one, when and where will it show that I have a master jriver20 account?
Thank you.
Very confusing all this.
-
Don't worry about restores. If you run out, we can reset them.
A future build will show the Master License first if it is present.
-
Forgive me if this info is elsewhere.
I have the Windows licence and a Linux licence that goes with a (still unopened!) Id.
Since we also have a Mac at home, I want to get a Master licence.
Is my existing Windows licence valid as a separate entity if I buy a new Master licence?
If so, may I "give" my current Windows licence to a friend, whom I have been courting to use MC for some time?
-
I already own MC19 Mac and MC19 Windows - How much for me to upgrade to MC20 Master License?
-
That would be $44.98 right now. Download the latest version from the jriver.com Download Page, and install. You may need to install your license (go to the Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) and then the Restore Page). You can also recover licenses there.
-
I am new to JRiver - have MC20 for windows installed.
I doubt I will ever have more than one copy of JRiver. The Master license is a single user license of any one flavor of machine - right?
I have been windows forever, but I could go to Linux in the future if there was a good reason to. I doubt it, but I won't say never.
My Question:
When I have to upgrade to a future version of MC, will the upgrade of a single user license to a new version be the same or close in $$$ to the upgrade of a Master license upgrade?
-
The new build .62 worked and now showing (registered Master license). Thanks for that
-

You don't ever have to upgrade. MC20 will always be good.
The difference in upgrade price will probably be similar to the difference between a new single OS license and a new master license ($49.98 and $79.98). But it won't be set for quite a while.
-
If you're having trouble purchasing at the discounted price, please download from the download page, install, restore your license if needed, and purchase from the Help menu of the program. Thanks.

Buy your upgrade from the MC20 inside, there is an option to upgrade for Master license. ;)
-
I bought the master licence and already installed MC20 on my win laptop!
What about my main system mac mini? Should I run the same .mjr file in order to activate the MC app or I must ask for another key suitable for mac?
Thnx and sorry if this has been covered!!
-
I'm thinking it might be a lot easier if it was possible to purchase the master licence from a page similar to the upgrade to v20 page where you only have to provide your current registration code...

You can use the Install Key for 14 days. Then you need to use a Restore. Please see the Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) for details.
-
From the Mac side on this combined board:
I have updated to Mac 20.00.60 with a view to purchasing the Master License as it seems a great offer. When I look at the Registration Info under the Help menu it reports I have a registered Master License and also that the option to upgrade is not there.
This is wonderful but I hold only Mac licenses and its not my birthday so what has happened? I have installed the same version on another Mac running the same OS (10.8.5) and using the same Mac license and that one reports that it is a Mac only license, as expected.
I have no wish to cheat you guys out of your revenue and would like to upgrade before the offer expires.
-
Anyone successfully upgraded from Linux version. I have bare bones Linux version and when I click on upgrade nothing happens. Is there an offline purchase option available?
Edit: Forgot to mention that I am running 20.0.61 and restored the license today.
-
Currently I have my full library on my Mac only, not on my work Windows machine and use iTunes from there with Apple's match streaming my songs (same songs I have on my Mac). I don't want to fill my work PC with my actual music files, is there a way to stream them from either my home Mac or can MC20 also load and play iTunes match songs directly from Apple?
-
You can use the Install Key for 14 days. Then you need to use a Restore. Please see the Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) for details.
Thank you very much for your answer!
I know about the 14 days.
So it's the same file/key that works both on win and Mac!
I don't have access to my Mac right now because I'm on a trip that's why I am asking...
Thnx!!!!!!
-
Have MC 20.0.60 already on my Mac. Have purchased and received a Master license. I've launched the .mjr file and I get the success welcome screen via Safari. However when I launch the app and check the Registration Information it does not show Master but prior (registered Mac license). Am I doing something wrong, or will this get updated on a future release install?
-
It's just a minor problem that will be fixed shortly. Your license is fine. The program is just showing the Mac license instead of the Master.
-
Are the emails for existing owners of two MC20 licences starting to go out yet?
-

OK. Will users be given any instruction/notification on what will be needed to "fix" this?
-
Just update when you see the next build, or let MC do it automatically.
-
Are the emails for existing owners of two MC20 licences starting to go out yet?
By February 1. Make sure your MC20 licenses use the same e-mail address. This can be changed on the Restore Page.
-
I think it's failing to install a new license if you already have one. John is looking at it.
That's been my experience -- master license does not register on existing installations. Tried it on anew Mac and new Windows installs, and it registered properly as a Master license...
-
I have MC19 on Mac and MC18 on Windows on the same iMac. I dual boot. I purchased and upgraded those licenses independently and I think under separate emails.
Is there an upgrade path for me? or do I purchase Master License MC20 so that I can use the install on both my OSX and Windows booted iMac. Can you point me to the upgrade instructions for both OSs? I noticed that the upgrade instructions are only for MC20 users.
thanks
-
Please see the first post for instructions.
-
"If you don't see the correct price, please don't complete the transaction."
Unfortunately I didn't check the forum to see this and assumed it would recalculate the payment. I would also suggest adding this statement along with the version number that you need to have installed to the purchase web page. I think I was on version 41 or thereabouts. I now have .61 up and see there is a way to upgrade directly from the program which would probably have been easiest.
Is there any way to credit me the overcharge? Looking forward to setting up one of my older laptops to Linux and the Linux version of JRiver soon.
-
Does this master license work only for MC20 version, or will it work for 21, 22...etc?
-

It works for one major version.

Thanks Jim.

Hello. I just purchased JRiver last week and I'm loving this program. I've spent several days importing and editing my music catalog. I have one issue with the registration. I put in my registration key and it tells me "successfully installed". But when I got to my registration status it tells me I have 24 days left to register. I have two computers on my home network running JRiver. The issue is the same for both computers. I'm using Windows 7 on one computer and Windows 8.1 on the other.
Please let me know how to get this properly registered.
Thanks!

Are you using the latest MC 20.0.62 Windows build?
Jim, when will the master licenses for multiple MC20 OS users start going out?
-
Feb 1.
-
Question - Do I need a master license to install JRiver MC on the same computer 2x? I'm going to try Windows Server along with Windows 8 via a dual boot.
Should I get the Master License for this or is the normal license sufficient to have 2 instances on the same computer but for 2 different Windows OS's?
Thanks
Arleigh
-
If the machines are both Windows, you only need a Windows license.
-
I wanted to upgrade to Master, since I do mostly work on a MAC now. I already have a valid MC 20 license on a Windows machine, that I currently cannot access. I wanted to use the chance to get the special upgrade offer to Master, but there seems no way to do so without having access to my Windows machine, right? If I download and install V20 on my MAC (right here from the board, the latest version), it says Trial Period expired (why that?) and offers to send an extension code. But when I asked for one and entered it, V20 splash screen on my MAC closed, and when I reopened it, it still said Trial Period expired and there's no way to start the program anymore. The purchase link leads to the 44$-version...
So right now, I am completely stuck.
Any suggestions, what to do?
-
You can retrieve your licenses from our server. Follow the instructions in the first post of this thread.
Make sure you have the latest build of MC installed. Restore your license if necessary.
-
I have a mac and a pc, both with older versions (neither with version 20). Can I simply purchase the master license for $49 and install over my current versions? What is the proper procedure?
Also, how many computers am I allowed to install on once I have the master license?
Thanks, Peter
-
Yes. But it's $44.98 right now. Just download the latest from the download page. Purchase from the Help menu in the program.

Hi GUys,
I've been busy with my day job . . . only just seen this offer.
I have an ID version 20xxx and a Windows version 19xxx JRiver MC licence.
Can I have a master licence for the two.
If so what the upgrade process for the ID and PC
Thanks
-
Hello, I just found out about the Master License upgrade for MC20 users via email, and also the 1/28 deadline. I'd like to purchase, but am out of town on business until 1/31 and cannot purchase from the Help menu in MC until then. Is there a way to extend the offer to 1/31?
Thanks,
Kerr

unable to upgrade? have latest version 16. downloaded 20 then restored license for 16. no upgrade in help menu. Thanks

Please download from the download page, install, restore your license if needed, and purchase from the Help menu of the program. Thanks.

I purchased version 19 seven months ago. My only use is for ripping cd's in uncompressed format and streaming high resolution music files to my audio system, and version 19 works very well for this.
Is there any advantage to upgrading to version 20 for this purpose?
Also, how long after I purchased version 19 in mid-June did version 20 become available?
Thanks
-
You can try MC20 for 30 days for free.
MC20 licenses began in August, but the program wasn't available for a few more weeks.
-
Thanks, I'll look into it.
Can you help me find or provide a link for what's new/improved about v20?

New features are here:

Please use another thread for discussion. This one is regarding the new license.

Will there be a lifetime license offered?
-
No.
-
Well I screwed up, followed the link from my email message about the new license to purchase the master license thinking I would get the discounted price since I would be inputting the same info I have used for years now purchasing jriver MC. nope was charged 44.xx
Is there any way to fix this ? if not it's no biggie you guys deserve a tip for all your hard work on MC.
Although I have to admit that I am a little miffed that a so called bug fix has resulted in tag names to be truncated once again, just what is so horrible about fully showing a tag name? example Book Series Volume is now Book Series Vol...(granted this is better than it used to be).
Sorry I am moving off the subject of the license.
-
You'll hear from Deanna in a day or two.
-
No.
Jim is there a lifetime license for JRiver for windows only
-
No.

I updated to version 20.0.62 on my Mac before using the upgrade option under the help menu. After doing the $19.98 upgrade, successfully installing the license, and restarting JRiver, "Registration Info..." still shows that I have a Mac License...and the "Upgrade to Master License..." option is still there under Help. Although the release notes for this version suggest that this issue has been addressed, apparently it has not. :-/

We don't have a license install record for your master license, so maybe it's not really installed?
Can you use logging to get a log of you starting the program and then send it to johnt at jriver dot com?
Thanks.

Also, do you have an older version of Media Center (18 or 19) installed on the same Mac? The default file association on Mac is quite sticky and may still be pointing to Media Center 18 or 19 when you run the license installer file (.mjr). Find your mjr file (probably in Downloads folder) and right-click on it and select "Open with..." and make sure it's choosing to open with the version 20 installer.
-
That was it! Default PackageInstaller on my Mac is version 18.0. I used right-click and picked "PackageInstaller (20)" and all was good. I guess I need to deinstall v18 and v19. Thanks.
-
I've only learned about JRiver Media Center recently, and would like to download the trial. If/when I'm ready to buy, I'd be interested in a license for both Mac and Windows.
As luck would have it, I discovered this special pricing for the cross-platform Master license on the very last day of the special period.
Is there any way to get an extension of the special Master License pricing so that I have a chance to use the trial for a bit to see if it's right for me?
Having to choose between dropping $45 sight unseen or paying nearly double that if I want to spend even a week with the trial is a tough pill to swallow.
Please let me know if there is anything you can do.
Nevermind. Tried JRiver out for a few hours and purchased it.
Thanks.

I just purchased MC...I think. I.e. I didn't have it and I chose the "Purchase Master License $79.98 (Recommended, since it is valid for Windows, Mac, and Linux) Special price through January 28, 2015: $44.98 Purchase from the Help Menu of the latest MC20" option.
Not exactly sure what time zone you guys are...if I did download MC then hopefully I qualified for the special price...it's what went through on my card.
If the Master License is NOT the actual MC and I should have opted for the "Purchase Windows only for $49.98 (Works only for Windows)" option, then is it possible to reverse my purchase and get the Windows version?
Looking at my download list I see that the file is 1.2 kb.
The Master License was promoted as a special and it was in the same section as the different OS versions of MC.
Again, if I haven't actually purchased the actual MC software I wanted, can we rectify this issue?
-
Just download MC and install it. Then use your new license to do a restore. See the Purchase Page (http://www.jriver.com/purchase.html) for details.

That's a wall of text there. Didn't read it as I think beforehand I got on track with the install...hopefully everything is alright now.
Pretty new to the world of PCs but I do appreciate it when installing new products is straightforward. E.g. getting an app from a tech magazine's DVD...nothing really to read, can bluff your way into getting it to work.
Your site is a bit confusing about the product though...as in there are other products which have features which "unlock" with payment or whathaveyou. Wasn't clear to me whether the Master licence was such an item. I.e. you needed to have purchased MC20 in order for the 'unlock' to be any good to you. That's why I was a bit worried whether I blew about $50 on an unlock without the requisite product!
Also, have gotten other downloads and you input whatever code you need to input at the time. With your system you've got the platform choice, the product choice and then a link to download the product (I later found out) and then a registration process.
From my point of view, it would be good if you went into the purchase section that you not only paid for the product but it downloaded at the same time and when that process was complete you input whatever code you need to in order to get the product to work.
I'm so much happier when I don't have to read a wall of text!
Thanks.

Hi there,
Should we have received our master licence by now I have both MC20 for PC and Mac but no E-mail as yet I'm sure they are both on the same PayPal E-mail address?
Many thanks, Tim.
-
It should be mailed early this week.

Hi there,
Many thanks Jim.

Hello,
I was checking out the trial version of MC20 on my work computer (Windows) and home computer (Mac)
Last Monday (Jan 26) I got the email about the Master License special for $44.98, thinking this would be the perfect solution for my scenario.
I made the purchase through the Help Menu (I thought), and everything was fine on my Windows work PC.
At home (Mac) when I tried to use my license, which is when I realized the download license sent to me was labeled "Media Center 20 Windows"
Since I paid for the "Master License" at its advertised cost, is there any way to correct this without added cost?
Thanks,
Steve
-
Steve,
You have mail.
-
Licenses were just sent to those who had an MC20 license for two or more operating systems, purchased with the same e-mail address.
Thanks.
-
I purchased a JRMC20 license for Mac on 8/11/204 and one for Windows on 9/14/2014. However, I did not receive my master license on February 1st. Did my premature purchase a master license upgrade on January 28th mess things up?
-
Steve,
You have mail.
Thanks Jim! All is working now...
Love it!
-
I'm sorry but I did not receive a master license. I can PM you the email address they were registered on if you need it.
Thanks!

I have been following this thread with interest and just noticed from this post that the Master License was sent to those who have an MC20 license for two or more operating systems:

I have an MC20 license for Windows and an MC20 license for Linux and they both are registered with the same e-mail address, however, I did not receive the Master License mentioned in the above quoted post. Is there something additional that I need to do for this to happen?

The current JRiver 20 Windows-Verion Registration licenses and Linux-Version Registration License to use two of the same e-mail address.
License confirmation email as a registered was also OK.
But still I have not received a master license.
When I get? ?

I have registration codes for various versions of MC (Mac and Windows - all the way back to V11) but under two different email addresses. Who do I contact, and how, do I get them all consolidated under one email account and get the free master license code?
Thanks in advance

I too have MC 20 licenses for both Linux and Windows, but I did not get a Master key.
Is this because I originally purchased the first Linux beta and you upgraded me to v20 for free?
I certainly would have purchased the upgrade, but I was led to believe from the email you sent that I would be getting one for free. "If you already own two MC20 licenses, and they are registered with the same e-mail address, you will receive a free Master License about February 1."
-
mrpro,
It was mailed to the same address as your forum e-mail. It went out on the 4th. Check your spam folder.
-
You've got mail. Thanks.
I'm all set. Thanks!!
-
I've not received the master license info yet. I have the latest mac and windows versions.
If I could work out how to submit a ticket i would :)

You could write me with details. I'm jimh at jriver. But I don't find two MC20 licenses. One is an MC19 license.

I found it and sent a license. Thanks.

no. thank you :)

sweet. got mine.

Hi Guys,
Now in April 2015 - how can I upgrade from MC20 Windows to a Master License ?
Would it be possible to post the correct link / mechanism ?
Many Thanks.
-
Did you try this?
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Master_License
-
Thanks Jim.
None of the direct links on the site seem appropriate for upgrading.
However now I've updated to the latest MC20 update the 'Help -> Upgrade to Master License...'
has appeared so now I'm good.
Best Regards

JRiver Master License & Introductory Price
When we introduced the Mac and Linux versions of JRiver Media Center, we found that customers wanted a license that would work with all versions. Unfortunately, our licensing system couldn't do this.
We have some good news. You can now buy a Master License that works with all three operating systems.
Any chance of bringing back the January offer (I'm based in Ireland) and already have Audivarna for MAC but would like to standardise my playback software - but 69.95 is a little too high with the strength of the dollar being so high.
Michael
-
If you own a license for MC20, you can upgrade for $24.98.
-
Hi Jim,
Unfortunately, I don't:-(
Best wishes all the same
Michael
-
Finally got around to combining licenses. Worked great for me - thanks for this.
-
If you own an Id and want to add a Windows JRiver Media Center PC to the home network, can you upgrade the license that came with the Id into a Master License? Or do you have to go out and get a separate Windows license?
-
The Id license can't be upgraded to another license. Sorry.
-
OK, that is understandable. It is just kind of confusing, because there is an "Upgrade to Master License..." menu option in the Id GUI, but nowhere in the "Purchase and License" screen that comes up that actually states that an Id license cannot be upgraded.
(Love the addition of the web browser in the Id beta firmware, btw.)
-
Greetings to all. I wonder if there will be more promotion to upgrade from version 19 to 20. I am interested in this subject. Thank U
-
We have no plans at this time.
-
I tried to upgrade to master license from my MC20 but when I click the upgrade to master license from within help an error message comes up saying cannot find the application. Any other way to do it?
-
You must have a recent version installed. What version do you have?
-
MC20.0.63
-
Please try 20.0.84:
http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=96272.0
-
Just tried. Can install 20.0.84 but when click on upgrade to master license same error message props up.
-
I checked our records. You purchased a Master License today.
-
I just succeeded to purchase the master license with my notebook which also has a jriver installed. Thanks.
-
Thank you.
-
You can use one license on all "your" PC's, within reason. You can find out how to do this here:
http://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Restoring_a_License
Thanks for asking.
-
I have at home the MC20 for Mac. At office I have a Windows XP P/C.
Can I upgrade to Master Licence and downlowed it to the office that it has difference address?
If yes, please send me the upgrade link because I don't find it.
Now I use the free trial for Windows at office.
Thanks
Dimitris

Purchase the Master License from a machine that is licensed. Then use it on the other one. See Restoring a License on our wiki for details about restoring.
-
Hi
I have MC19 Windows license.
What is the best (and cheapest!) course of action to:
1) Upgrade it to the Windows license
OR (better still)
2) Upgrade it to the Master License (I just need Windows and Linux).
Thanks.
-
You would need to upgrade from MC19 to MC20. This is $21.98 right now.
Then upgrade from it to a Master license for $24.98.
-
Thanks for your help... I guess I'll wait for the better offers...
-
Hi JimH
I use MC on Windows since version 17 and upgraded it to 18 and 19. Then I bought an early version 19 for Mac. Soon after, before it even was stable, there was a new version 20, but I didn't want to pay already again. ?
Now there is master license which combines my two Windows and Mac licenses, so do I still have to pay for the master license and should I upgrade to MC20 before or afterwards?
PS: When will MC21 be released?
Thanks a lot.
Chris
-
If I recently purchased a Master License (last 30 days) do I need to pay for an upgrade already?
-
So since I purchased mine June 7, I have to pay for the upgrade :P
