Title: Importing existing tags (FLAC files) into newly created Library Fields in MC23?
Post by: Theleb_Kaarna on September 02, 2017, 07:40:09 am
Good morning!

I recently completed my new PC build with a fresh install of MC23.

OK, so I'm using dBpoweramp to rip my CD Collection to FLAC files for playback in JRiver. In dBpoweramp I had previously created two new tags: "Origin" (Artist's country/city of origin) and "Label" (Record Label). In MC23 I've successfully created those two corresponding Library Fields. Problem is I imported all my media (music) files before creating/adding these two new Library Fields into MC. As a result, the two fields are blank. I've tried re-importing the media files, with "Analyze audio on new files" selected, and everything else I can think of, but to no avail. I've scoured the Wiki, but nothing. I know I've set-up everything correctly because any new CD I rip (in dBpoweramp) and subsequently import into MC automatically populates those two fields. I'm hoping there's a simple way to import those two tag's metadata into MC without having to remove all my media files, then re-import them all over again (which I incidentally don't know how to do).

Any help or ideas would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks!

For the affected files, highlight one or a few of them, then:  <right click> Library Tools > Update Library (from tags)

If that populates your tags correctly, you can do the rest all at once.

Good luck.

Brian.
