Title: Problem licensing JRiver 22 on linux mint mate
Post by: albertoktm on January 22, 2017, 04:09:36 am
hello everyone, I have a serious problem with the license JRiver 22 on my gigabyte Brix i5 with linux mint mate18.
I'll explain.
I tried to enter a voucher code of mediacenter but after several ignitions does not accept my license as if it were not stored.
at this point I tried to do the restore and that way I could download the file .mjr and I proceeded through terminal and is successful.
but after several restarts, the new license will not be saved.
I do not understand why it is not accepted. please help me also to administrators also because I have only another 6 Restore out of 20.
why? :-\

Thanks Jim. the date is correct. I was an hour early on but correcting the problem is always there.
Now I only have 3 restore.
so I can not throw my license purchased in this way

I reset your restores.  Have you read other posts on licensing on Linux?

Something's not right, my Mint 18.1 VM works great with no issues retaining the license status. Is there any type of hardware change going on? Changing the hostname? Network interface change of some sort? Proper read/write permissions? Have you made any modifications to Mint?

You're not using something like an encrypted home partition are you? I've never actually tested this one to see if it works without permission issues.

It *should* work, especially if you're registering from the Terminal. If I had to make a guess, it could be read/write permission issue or corrupted MC settings file. If all else fails and as a last resort, make a library backup and remove the entire .jriver directory - this will reset everything and you'll have to redo everything. Just use this command in a Terminal for the last resort;

Code: [Select]
sudo rm -rf '~/.jriver'
P.S. Don't worry about using restores, they can (and have) been reset. ;) Just use the Terminal to restore the license file (the .mjr file) so you don't use up all your restores.

I re-install linux mint beginning.
try again to change to the hostname and network wifi to lan.
Proper read / write permissions are ok.
I try again and let you know

I believe changing the hostname will cause registration to be lost.

Yeah, a clean install of Mint will hopefully fix it. :)

I installed new linux mint 18 cinnamon
I changed hostname and connected the network via LAN and it seems to work.
we hope well.
I am already past 12 hours.
It is likely that the problem was hostname.
Thanks Jim for the restore

Glad to hear it!

Once I set the hostname during setup (when it asks for your username and password) I don't change it, because I know MC will unregister itself if I do this. Same thing happens on Windows and Mac too, I believe. But again, I don't change those. ;)

I'm back with the same problem.
I brought my brix in the country house in my second system by connecting it via wifi network, and after several ignitions JRiver did not save the license and now I have 27 days trial.
chances are if you upgrade linux somehow license gates?
or is the wifi network that harbors this problem?
I'm desperate yet on my notebook windows works perfectly ..

I've done tons of package/distro upgrades and the registration status always sticks. Did you change the hostname again or anything like that?

no I have not changed anything.  I tried to install on my notebook linux mint no problem.
I think the problem is the brix and its upgrade to cancel my license.

Turn on logging in MC and start MC. Attach the log here.
