Title: Has Anyone Had a Problem With Firefox When Running MC21?
Post by: tlcmd on December 09, 2015, 02:57:04 pm
I have recently been having intermittent trouble with Firefox 42.0 freezing when MC 21.0.23 is playing.
I am running Linux Mint Debian Edition 2 (Betsy) on a HP Envy with an Athlon Quadcore chip, 12 Gigs of RAM and a 2 TiB HDD which is partitioned with 500 Gigs for Windows 8.1 and the rest (1.3TiB) for LMDE.

QUESTION: has anyone else had this problem, and, if so, how did they fix it?

Thanks,
tlcmd

No.

The only thing I can think of that makes sense is that MC is using ALSA hardware device and locking it. Firefox tries to output sound and hangs due to MC taking exclusive control.

If this is the case, you can overcome it by using Pulseaudio instead of ALSA directly.
