Title: how to disable those drop-down menus in columns?

Friends,
In previous versions of MC, I would slowly click twice in a mp3 field to edit it. This is still the case with the artist, title, year and a few others. However in the Keyword, Places, People and other columns, I now get a drop down menu which is a major pain. I have to slow-click an additional click to be able to edit, then to make the change stick I have to hit enter, which makes the editing box disappear, so for the next entry I have to click all over again. It used to be I could just use the up/down arrow to immediately have an editable box in the next mp3. I used to be able to move through my mp3s very quickly this way. The drop down menu is no help, choosing among hundreds of previously entered possibilities is totally insane.
Is there any way to disable the drop down menu in these columns?

Sorry, but it's not configurable.

If the keyboard focus went to the edit right away, would it solve the issue?
