Title: Adminstrator Control of JRiver Media Center 25 Settings
Post by: d2b on May 16, 2019, 04:04:40 pm
We want to use JRIver Media center as a playback tool option for our large team of volunteer radio broadcasters. These fine folks come from a wide range of community members, ranging from laborers and housewives to engineers and programmers with advanced university degrees.

Like it or not, JRiver Media Center is not an intuitive, easy-to-use tool for many of our DJs. Those that have just enough knowledge to tinker with the setup make the learning curve impossible for many others to climb. Why? Because the next time they come in to start their show, someone may have fooled around with the audio driver settings or the     library/media folder settings. Even doing a simple thing such as changing the skin will confuse an already-nervous newbie when starting a two-hour music show that's only on the air every other week...or daily for that matter.

Is there a way to install and configure JRiver Media Center in such a way that ONLY a high-level system administrator can alter the user settings and the visual interface, while retaining the user's ability to bring in a playlist and media on, say, a USB stick?

Thanks in advance...

You might try using clients for your users and connecting to a server.  They can be read only clients.

Start with the Media Server topic on our wiki.
