Hello,
I am demoing JRiver 20. DSD works great!!! When I select a 44K track, the playback is incredible distorted. Can you explain how to configure so that I can seemlessly play both formats without losing sanity?
Thank you

I probably should add my DAC is Wyred 4 Sound DAC 1 LE used in a 2 channel system with L and R speakers plus a subwoofer.

That's odd. What type of file? 2 channel?
You can use DSP Studio to output what you want.
More details on MC's settings and the connection might help.

The 44K files are all 2 channel ripped from CDs.
DSP studio is set to 8X DSD. The various speed selections are all m
grayed out.
Other settings:
Audio Devices : Asio W4S 32 bit DSD (ASIO)
Buffering: 50 ms
Bit Streaming: DSD
Prebuffering: 6 sec
Play Silence: None
Track Change: Crossfade Aggresive
Stop, Seek, & Skip: Normal; Fast; Fast respectively
Output Format Encoding: 8xDSD
Detect stereo sources in surround: checked
Advanced settings: Auto config output settings is set to "ask"

Output Format Encoding: 8xDSD
Turn that off. It should be set to "none". That setting is only to be used if your DAC ONLY supports DSD and does NOT support PCM. It converts everything to DSD. You've already got bitstreaming for DSD turned on, so it should pass DSD through to your DAC without any changes.
Turn off the output format encoding and you should be able to play PCM properly. Be sure to set the various rates to map to something that your DAC can handle. For example, if your DAC can't play anything above 192,000, then set everything above that to 192,000.
Good luck,
Brian.
