I just noticed that MC 21 keeps stating that there isn't a blank cd in the drive when trying to burn a cd. I'm using Windows 10. Both the internal and external drive have been tried with various known good media. Other burn programs are working fine. I'm just unable to burn with MC21.

I just burned a CD to test and it worked great. I wonder what might be different?
Could you share a log from the failed burn?
Thanks.

There is no failed burn because the process can't start due to it thinking there is no blank disc in either drive.

Please provide a log of us thinking there's no disc (when there really is).
Thanks.

How or where do I go about doing that?

Follow the instructions in the Wiki here:

Brian.

Turn on logging from the Help menu.
Then restart MC and click that you want to burn (make sure the disc is in the drive).
Then click Help > Logging > Report Problem...
It'll make a zip file. Send that zip file to johnt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.

Ok will do when at home later.

The log file looks normal. So you get a disc burning action window but if you click the "Burn" button it doesn't let you proceed, is that right?
When you first select the "Burn Disc" options, does it give you the chance to select which drive to use? I wonder if it's trying to use the wrong drive. It looks like it should be using the USB connected LG drive, rather than the internal Matshita drive. Does that sound right?
-
Correct the burn does not proceed. When I look at the details it states that no media is present. I have tried media in both drives separately and at the same time. I have tried to use either drive option to no avail. I'm stumped.
Both drives report audio CDs present when they are inserted. They just don't recognize blank discs.

Strange. Just for another data point, could you try unplugging the USB drive and then see if the burn works using the internal?
-
Ok just tried that and same problem. Insert a disc. comes up in the details pane. For the record I have tried a couple different media brands with same results.
-
did you try re-installing the driver(s) then restarting the PC?
one of my drive was recently having weirdness in MC, reinstalling the driver fixed it.

What do you mean by "Insert a disc. comes up in the details pane"?
-
The small Action window pops up for Burn Disc but nothing happens. The menu in the left corner of the pane has a Details view. When looking in there I see the Insert Disc
Also just tried uninstalling both drives in Device Manager and restarting, but same problem.

Sorry, but just to be sure I understand, here's the sequence I use:
1. click the "Burn Disc" icon in the lower left action window
2. the "Burn Disc" action window shows with "Audio CD" selected in the drop box
3. I click the "Next>" button
4. the "drop here" graphic shows in the action window

5. I drag a couple audio tracks onto that area and this appears:

6. I click the Burn button and this dialog pops up:

I'm assuming step #6 is where you are seeing a different message, is that right?

I need a face palm smiley because I was forgetting that I had to drag the files to the window. Haven't burned with MC for a while. All is good now. Sorry for the time waster.

No problem, I've had those moments too. Glad it's working.
