Title: Message "MC is Currently Running but there may be a problem"
Post by: CountryBumkin on October 03, 2015, 05:57:12 am
I see this message about every one out four times I open MC21.

I have to go into Windows Task Manager to close MC. I have also reported previously about MC not closing on its own when I do a version update. MC will report that there is a version running, and ask to close it, but it never does. I close it in Task Manger. BTW the program always consumes 25%+/- of CPU.

Perhaps this issue is hardware related somehow because I have this issue on Win10 now and I had it before on Win8.1 - and I did a clean install of Win10.
It's not a big deal since it only causes a problem during version upgrade, but I thought I'd mention it again to see if there where any ideas on solving it.

It's more likely to be software than hardware.  Is someone else running MC or are you running it as a different user?

Antivirus, etc. ...

I'm the only user. Just one copy of MC running on each computer (all running most current version. Server and two Clients). This issue is on the Server.
Anti-Virus is Windows Defender and Malwarebytes Anti-malware Home Premium.

Would a Dump Log help anyone?

Could you test without them?

Are you doing anything unusual?  VNC, for example?

I experience this also.

Me to. Have never figured out what can cause it; seems to be random in my case. I will see it several times a week then it may go for as much as 2 or 3 weeks without doing it.

In my case I can close MC without going into Windows Task Manager.

It has done it in audio playback & TV playback so i suspect it has something to do with the core MC program & not audio or TV specifically.
