Please read carefully before downloading.
This is BETA software. There are still some known (and unknown) bugs.

The latest build of 9.1 beta is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter91247.exe
Please report only known problems in this thread. If you want to discuss changes in the UI, please use another thread.
History:
1. Fixed: Media Center would occasionally crash if stop was pressed while buffering.
2. Changed: Column right-click menu shows list styles as submenu.
3. Fixed: Right click menu wouldn't show up for root of "CD, DVD, & Handhelds".
4. Changed: "Detailed Info" renamed "Tag Info".
5. Changed: Properties (alt+enter, r-click, etc.) shows tag info page instead of toggling action window.
6. Changed: Internal margins for the Action Window can now be described through InternalMargins item in XML.
7. Fixed: If MC failed to load skin it would not always show the name of the skin.
8. Changed: DirectSound playback has stutter suppression so it won't loop when buffering or failing to play a stream.
9. Changed: Updated SlideShow and 3D Visualizations (w00t) for MC 9.1. (visit plugins page to download)
10. Fixed: Installer wouldn't always jump to the top when starting.

You just made a lot of people very happy!

Please read carefully before downloading.
2. Changed: Column right-click menu shows list styles as submenu.
Why? Now, "Thumnails options" is sometimes inside "List style" and sometimes is outside that menu item... I didnt see anyone complainig about it. Well. I hope someday you will allow us to switch between "Album thumbnails" and "Details" in just ONE click.
Wishes:
-Eliminate "Show it as window" in AW right click.
-Playing song is not enough visible in AW (using PixOS). It needs more contrast
-PN Page in Action Wiondow is repainted even when not needed (for instance, selecting a song or a panel item).
-More buttons
Bug:
Media Server does not stream WMA file when non-english characters involved.
-
Bugs:
1. Using <Alt-Enter> loses the input focus and requires you to use the mouse to get the focus back...makes <Alt-Enter> kind of useless.
2. Impossible to navigate MC with the keyboard as Tab key only stops in Org Tree and Search box...a few more logical tab stops are needed.
-
Once you have switched to Tag Info using any method it then reverts to hiding and showing the action window...this dual functionality might be a bit confusing for new users.
I really love where MC 9.1 has got to. Fantastic work. Thank you and expect my re subscription for version 10 (as long as the price doesn't go up too much ;D)

Is it me or did the shading disappear? I'm speaking of the alternate row shading when viewing tunes, panes etc.
It seems to be gone in PixOS and Brushed Metal.
Did I miss something?

Esthetic bug - robs of space:
Lists in Action Window always reserve an empty space on the right for a scrollbar - although there's no scrollbar present (for shorter lists...).
Esthetic Bug:
Some icons of the "ListIcons.png" don't have transparency.
Don't know if this has worked before:
When listening to web radio, Playing Now's Track Info does not refresh when a new song starts. It's sticked to the page that is loaded when you start listening to the station.
So in Hairstyle / Windowed / Full Screen mode, it's quite hard to get the right info...
Annoying behavior:
No mute when buffering web content (awful stuttering while buffering). Crashes when station not available. See Nikolay's "Streaming Problems?" thread for details...
Drawing bug:
Action Window tooltip for "Bios" flickers when there's much content in the bios field and the tooltip is drawn over the top border of MC.
Drawing bug:
Handle of vertical splitter is not centered always.
Drawing bug (better in this build, but not "perfect" ;) )
When switching between view schemes, panes with short lists don't show a scrollbar. Resizing MC a little bit brings back the scrollbar. After switching to another view scheme and then back to the one with the short list, the scrollbar is missing again...

Then how would we get it to an undocked window?
I see the AW as a Window, so I guess a "Maximize" (read Undock) button is needed. Actually, the visualization window in Playing now already has that button.
-
9. Changed: Updated SlideShow and 3D Visualizations (w00t) for MC 9.1. ...
WOW - w00ting now seamless on a Matrox Millennium G550 - even fullscreen! Didn't expected that ... you are coders from outer space ;D
-
Action Window: If I have a song selected in Playing Now, and open the AW up to display Tag Info, then I click on the Artist Info node of Playing Now, the AW says "No Files Selected". If I then undock the AW, the correct file(s) are listed in the Tag Info screen. I use the AW\Artist Info combination a lot to fill tags, so it would be really nice if this could work correctly.
w00t: Picture Landscape still doesn't move. It will occasionally rotate a very little bit, but the lanscape never changes. I'm assuming it's supposed to. All other w00t visuals work perfectly. And before you suggest it's my video card, I have a GeForce 4 4200 and an AMD XP 2000+. It's not the fastest thing out there anymore, but it can handle every 3D game I've thrown at it. It should be able to handle w00t.

whenever i try to play a low quality file, say this one: http://webtrick.com/gw/users/0/0/8/5/3/panterrorized.mp3 it makes MC crash.

Not an issue for me. Check you have the option set. Tools> Options> Tree & View Settings> Show Gridlines

Requests for skinning
It would be nice if there was a way to define the color of the "active link" (hover) for the text of the AW browser symbols. It's now fixed to #0000FF... Makes it sometimes hard to read on backgrounds others than black/white.
"DrawMode" for PositionSliderFront, so it would be possible to tile the image.
A new "VolumeSliderFront"... would be nice if the now possible effects for position sliders could also be used for the volume slider ;)

1) If you've stopped a bunch of files from playing, and you've got the AW open on Playing Now, when you select an interface plugin and press Play, the dialog box "Please select a file to play" appears. Fair enough, but the AW Playing Now doesn't clear the list, but it does update to "0 files - 00:00".
2) On the topic of displaying gridlines, when I change the "Show Gridlines" setting, the panes repaint straight away, but the file list does not repaint untill refreshed or until manually repainted by moving another window over it.
Scott.

MUCH BETTER - THANKS :D

CD ripping error: 'Read track failed. Failed to extract digital audio.'
This occurs whenever I made changes on CD tag info, either YADB retrieved or not (manual entry). But if the tag info's are left untouched MC would allow me to rip. I didn't have this error in earlier versions.
Anybody encountered having this problem and workarounds ?
Appreciate any feedback.
Thanks.

Folder Displayed Twice
In My Computer, if a folder is dragged to a new location or if a new folder is created, it is displayed twice.
-
A few:-
1. Button at top right of main pane for "add playlist group" doesn't work.
2. Downloading the MP3 player for encoding in Tools/Options causes MC9 to crash (this is an old problem that was fixed but is now making a welcome reappearance)
3. "Save this view - for all locations" doesn't work.
Like the look more and more.

Possibly related...
Under the "Media Library-->Images-->Hard Disk Location" view, I tried moving a picture from one directory to another, and a mysterious virtual "<this directory>" entry was created. (Note again that I was trying to do this in a view, not the "My Computer" node.)
(I just got my digital camera a week ago, so I have literally only a week's worth of experience in MC's image handling functionality. What I tried to do above was probably incorrect, but still, an empty "<this directory>" entry makes no sense to me. :))

<this directory> means files in the path you're looking at, so:
Looking at C:\Images
<this directory> (files like C:\Images\1.jpg, etc.)
Trip (files like C:\Images\Trip\1.jpg, etc.)

Is the "track #" field getting changed by your editing? Verify that the track number is correct before ripping.

Well, that's what I initially thought when it was first created, but selecting it yielded zero hits even though selecting any actual named branch yielded many hits. <shrug>
Oh, well, I guess I'll work it out eventually.

there is a bug that shows 0 for <this folder> in the tree, not the pane. I get it every time for different directories.
