Title: stacks - making themselves!
Post by: ferday on October 05, 2015, 10:11:06 am
not a usability issues at all, but i've notice MC is creating it's own stacks!

i periodically go in and erase the stacks for hundreds (or more) files, then going back at some point later they have the stack icon again and i unstack them!

is there anything that could be doing this?  doesn't seem to affect anything but it is weird

Handheld sync?

handheld conversion cache perhaps? Check in "File Conversion" options to verify.

Cached files are auto stacked. It's a neat feature that worked so well for my iPod for many years before I retired it in favour of Gizmo. in thumbnail views, it is possible to hide the stack icon on a per view basis.

oh thanks Jim

if i quickly browse through, i see that all of the stacked files were in fact the last ones i synced to a handheld!

what do the stacks mean?  like, what is it stacking, is it just with the cache (i sync with on-the-fly transcode)

thanks again, makes sense now

edit:  too quick.  thanks marko as well!

The idea is that when you sync, if there's already a file in the cache, it pulls that instead of converting again, resulting in faster sync jobs.
