Title: OT-look at Mars in the sky

On August Mars was the closest from Earth since 60.000 years.

You can still see  her if you look at the moon ,you can see a  kind of big star with a 'orange' light.

This is Mars.

Salut Zev,

Just back from a long "wireless" vacation. I did observed Mars quite a few time in July/august, astronomy beeing one of my (too many) hobbies !

For now it's raining in Paris, so no Mars tonight but sweet dreams anyway.

Hope you're fine Zev and the rest of the Interact crew too..

I've been enjoying looking at it from the back deck of our boat at the marina where we dock.   Since everyone has covered their dock lights to deter mosquitos, it's pitch black at night and Mars has been beautiful to view.

I checked Mars out last Saturday night through my telescope (got the kids up at 1:00 AM!). Quite a difference from the last time I viewed it a few years ago. The last time it was just a fuzzy little gray ball with almost no detail or color. This time it was a light caramel colored ball with dark grey patterns on it and I could see a tiny white polar ice cap. Pretty cool peering at another world across 40 million miles of space. Of course it was beautiful with just the naked eye as well.
