Title: 2 channels (inside 7.1 channel container)
Post by: lpcalcaterra on October 20, 2015, 10:06:14 am
I am using Startech USB 7.1 cards. When creating a single zone which sends the same audio to all three locations as described below, I receive an error indicating it is not possible with my hardware.

Can 2 channels (inside 7.1 channel container) be used with USB sound-cards?

Creating a single zone which sends the same audio to all three locations

1.  In the Output Format section of DSP Studio, set the number of channels to "2 channels (inside 7.1 channel container)"

2.  Now in the Parametric EQ add "Mix Channel" rules, which copy the Left channel to Surround Left and Rear Left, and Right to Surround Right and Rear Right:

Now when you play music in this zone, it will be sent to all three locations.

Of course, as long as the USB sound card supports 8 channels.

Thx for response Matt.

Apparently the Startech does not support it.
Startech info:
Audio CODEC: USB Multi-Channel Audio Device
Driver Version 7.12.8.2140
Audio Controller: Intel(R) 6 Series/C200 Series Chipset Family

I would love some recommendations on USB cards that support  2 channels (inside 7.1 channel container).
