Title: Hiding MC when launching an external program from theatre view does not hide MC
Post by: mattkhan on November 08, 2015, 09:04:23 am
I have added an entry to theatre view to launch a browser, I check the box marked "Hide Media Center while program is running" and then go to theatre view to test it.

Click the link, there is a flicker and theatre view stays on top. I can alt+tab and see the browser was launched as expcted.

Return to the theatre view config, uncheck the box so media centre is not hidden.
Go back to theatre view and retest, the launched browser remains on top of theatre view.

Am I missing something or is this exactly the opposite of what you'd expect?

We count on the program we're executing not returning until it is finished (and then we reshow MC).

Launching a browser like Firefox returns right away even though Firefox is still running.

I'm not sure if there's any possible solution.

Ok, that makes sense (in that it is not designed to control what is effectively a daemon).

You could probably launch the application using a batch file, or auto hot key, and bring it to the front after 1 or 2 seconds.  I haven't done it, but it appears to not be too hard.
