Hello, I'd just like to know if there is a way to upsample DSD64 to DSD128 in JRiver MC 21 natively, i.e. WITHOUT passing through intermediate PCM step.
Thanks in advance

No, that is not supported. Sorry.

:(
Thanks

is a way to upsample DSD64 to DSD128 in JRiver MC 21
(To help my understanding) Why do you (would you?) want to do that?

To move quantization noise to upper frequencies ;)
My point is: I don't need any DSP whatsoever, so why should I be "forced" to go through PCM step, deploying a proper LPF on top of that and because of that, losing gain at the end of it all?
Please JRiver add native DSD upsampling, thanks.

Isn't DSD 'encoded' in a such a way that it's not currently possible to change the recording level without going via PCM? Do the same rules apply to re-sampling ie direct DSD to DSD re-resampling can't (currently?) be done?
(Edit for clarification: I was talking about DSD in general not about how DSD is handled in/by MC)

Please JRiver add native DSD upsampling, thanks.
There are no plans for that at this time.

Lets make an example.
I've a track in native DSD64 (completely native).
1)
a)With current implementation of MC, without doing any change at all (no DSP and no LPF even when reading DSD) and by doing Library Tools->Analyze TPL is shown as being +6.8left and +6.6 right. Integrated Loudness is -10.1 (so 10.1-23=-12.1dB) and Dynamic Range (R128) is 4.6 .
But wait, wait a moment...I had left the "Increase the volume of DSD to PCM by +6dB" checkbox ticked by choice, and this tells me that analysis had been done on a DSD to PCM conversion and NOT on DSD itself. Because by unticking the checkbox I had 0.8;0.6; -4.1 (so 4.1-23=-18.9dB) and 4.6. :'( :'( :'(
b)Doing the same analysis with a tool capable of natively going into DSD had shown respectively 3L, 3R -13.9IL and DR (128) 6.
Something quite different and what it should be, given DSD TPL by its standards.
Clearly MC21 has done analyzing with a PCM conversion already.
2)Should I wish to upsample natively the track at DSD128 in order to shift the noise quantization starting frequency from about 20Khz of DSD64 (still in audible range) to the double.
As officially confirmed here, this is neither possible nor planned
Summing up MC21 it is NOT capable either of native DSD analyzing (Lybrary Tools -> Analyze) and of native DSD->DSD upsampling/downsampling
If MC crew regards this as something minor I don't.
Probably this should be stated clearly enough in the product description page :)
