Title: High Bit Rate Flac problems
Post by: MichaelF on November 19, 2015, 01:20:00 pm
I have  got 2 instances of Media Centre 21 on two different PC using the same library stored on an external hard disc.
On the first computer the sound utilises the PC speakers via the default audio device.
On the second computer I use ASIO 4ALL and output sound via SPDIF to my hi fi system.
On computer 1 it plays everything no problem.
On computer 2 it will not play hi bit rate flac files. These were extracted from SACD. Media centre opens the file but the timer stays at 0. They play perfectly on Computer 1. Every other file type plays.
I have checked the set up on both versions and they appear to be identical apart from the audio device.

Anybody got any ideas?

Try WASAPI.

ASIO4ALL has its own setup, so that is likely where you have a problem.

ALSO, depending on the "high" bitrate, the combined bitrate could be above the limit for S/PDIF.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will try them out.

I have looked at the advanced settings on ASIO and amended "always resample 44.1 <> to / from 48khz".
Since then no problem.

Yes, If I remember correctly, the last released versin of ASIO4ALL has that switch reversed by accident.
