Title: DVD menu support
Post by: alex014 on November 25, 2015, 06:30:00 am
Hi.  I have all my DVDs ripped in the folder structure stored on one computer.  If I try to play them from another they automatically start playing.  Is there a way to have the DVD go  the menu first.  Sorry if the question has been answered and thanks for any help .

That's where I'd be looking to first as well.

Menus are part of the rip (or not). If you use JR to rip the DVD, it rips the whole thing. If you used, say, Handbrake, then it will strip the menus / special features etc.

If they are still in their VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS folder format, they may or may not include menus, depending on the options you chose when you ripped them.

I used anydvdhd to rip full disk. I did it to folder structure not iso.  If I play it with vlc.  The DVD rip starts at the menu

Are they on the local machine or on a network drive?

Search for "DVD Navigator" problems.  It's a known limitation.

Instead of using homegroups, map a network drive. Make sure to use the same letter for both PC's.
Menus will then work.
