I got the Oz Free to Air Logos from Freeview.com.au/tvguide. Here they are for anyone that wants to use them.
-
Thanks you very much for sharing Imugli. That saves me looking around for them.
The Racing.com logo is just ugly, isn't it!
I might add the file to the first post of the Australian TV Setup so everybody can find it, once MC21.0.26 or above goes public.
-
I normally just use google images for my logos in the past, but there is also this site that seems to have collected them for the world
http://www.lyngsat-logo.com/tv/a_1.html

The standard TV channels (CBS, NBC, PBS, etc.) are easy to find. It gets harder finding logos for the local sub stations (like channel 15.1 WDSC-HD and 15.2 WDSC-ED and 15.3 WDSC-WV, etc.). I have not found a single site/place to get all the local Logos, and Googling one at a time is very time consuming (you have to be really dedicated to this feature to go through all that trouble for potentially hundreds of channels).
Is there a way JRiver could help on this by letting us "Submit Cover Art" (upload TV logos) to the JRriver online database to share with others? So maybe you have channel 15.1 and you select "Get Cover Art" then JRiver would let you select from any matching cover art for "15.1" (or "WDSC-HD") in its database (there could be multiple choices, of course for common channels, but eventually all the popular ones would be available).

Nice find! Thank you jmone!

I had a look at this, found that the logos weren't 100% up to date for oz. Go and Gem have recently changed, and the Ten logo was still the old blue and gold one.

I found a way to get a "better" set of TV Logos from Freeview. There are larger 162x130 pixel PNG Logo images on the page: http://www.freeview.com.au/tv-guide/channels/
The trouble is, that page is a bit very flaky and won't always display, often just giving an error. The trick is to go to the TVGuide, change your location, then select the "Channel" drop down under the TVGuide button. See attached image to see what I mean. Even then, when I selected Melbourne, the page is showing Sydney. Also, if I had already set the location to Melbourne, I had to change it to Sydney, then change it back to Melbourne to get what I think was the Melbourne Logos. They could still just have been the Sydney Logos, but at least they were correct for me. I tried so many times, it is even possible that the page only works when your location is set to Sydney. (Those Freeview guys are either very busy, too busy to notice let alone fix this stuff, or they are a bunch of ....)
Anyway, even then the new ABC2/4 Logo was in JPG format, rather than PNG, and hadn't been edited properly to match the other logos. So I edited it and saved it as a PNG file.
If you care to try them, download the attached zip file, which contains the 26 channels I get in Melbourne. Enjoy!
PS: As per the post below (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=101878.msg712074#msg712074), this zip file contains fixed SBS and SBS2 logo files.

Just for completeness of my Guide Logo collection, I made up some Logos for the Radio stations available on the TV OTA frequencies in Melbourne Australia; SBS Radio 1 2 and 3, ABC Double J and ABC Jazz. They have the same background colour (white) and are all the same size PNG files as the Freeview logos for consistency. These logos actually look better in the MC Guide, even though they are a bit bigger and squarer than the originals.
For the moment I am leaving all five radio stations in my Guide, even though I don't have Guide data for the SBS Radio channels, I do for Double J and Jazz.
See zip file attached. Enjoy.

Bonzer effort guys, these are going straight to the pool room.

I'll add UK ones as soon as I get home

Uk Freesat and Freeview guide logos File is to big to attach here so use this link (https://onedrive.live.com/redir?resid=5FC897BF9E9DB5D5!109255&authkey=!AN3b396ag8T7LXs&ithint=file%2czip)

There was a problem with the SBS and SBS2 Logos in the zip file above, where the corners weren't correctly displayed in MC as black when converted to JPG files. I like the rounded corners, so I've fixed the logos and changed the file in the post above: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=101878.msg711813#msg711813
Or you can download just the fixed files in the zip file below.

A couple of new TV Channel Logos.
One is for the new channel 76, called 7Flix.
The other is for the new channel 13, called "TEN HD".
I had to do some work to build these, as the Freeview version was a jpg rather than a PNG as required. There isn't a Freeview version of the TEN HD logo yet, so I built it from a log on the Tenplay site.
Enjoy.
-
There have been some updates to a few channel logos, and I fixed up "TEN HD" a bit with a new file from Freeview. See zip files attached of just the changes, and a full set of the logos I use for Melbourne Australia FTA Channels.
Note that I haven't removed the older logos from the full zip file, in case you want to keep using the old ones.
Enjoy.

@RoderickGI I just wanted to say thanks for the logos - I'm using them on my HTPC now. Saved a bit of work!

You're welcome.

Thanks for the Updated Logos! I did a rescan for fun and now see a new TV Channel without a logo - SBS VICELAND

I'll have do a rescan myself and see if that SBS channel shows up, and if so, find an icon. It usually takes a little while for proper Channel Icons to be available though, so don't hold you breath!
I assume by duplicates you mean 1 & 12, 2 & 21, 7 & 71, 9 & 91, 93 & 99, etc. I just hide those and they stay hidden through a rescan. I have also moved them down the list of channels and they stay in place, so they don't get in the way when I am doing maintenance. EPG Collector is going to need some work as well.
Hmmm. So it replaces SBS 2. http://www.news.com.au/national/breaking-news/sbs-viceland-launches-in-australia/news-story/b107e646d418b999e7dc96d0157a09ba

Channel 7 and 71 look so similar that it is puzzling why they have both of them.
7 7 Sydney DTV 1282 (12820-1312)177500, 7, 4115, 514, 4, 0, 513, 512, 516, 0, eng, 513
71 7 Sydney DTV 1282 (12820-1313)177500, 7, 4115, 514, 4, 0, 513, 528, 516, 0, eng, 513
They have different service IDs, so they are considered different channels. The only other difference is in Program Map Table packet ID.
Perhaps they just want to make it uniform, with 70, 71, ... etc. whereas 7 is the traditional channel, which they can't abandon. Thus the duplication. Just a guess.

Roderick posted a great explanation in the OTA scanning thread in Beta Group...
Ah the joys of Australian TV.
I believe it is a consequence of our analogue TV days, where we had fewer channels with the main ones being 2, 7, 9, 10, and then added a new service, the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS), which broke new ground and got the number, Channel 28. It was affiliated with the public broadcaster, the ABC, which used channel 2, so they kept the number sort of in the sequence, starting with a 2. It wasn't even a VHF channel like the others, it was UHF, and had its own tuner on early TVs.
Then we added the Community Channel, and so that it would have the same number everywhere, it was given a number from the new range, Channel 31.
Then of course we went digital, and there were number reshuffles, and SBS wanted all its channel in its own range, instead of sharing the range with our other public broadcasting network, the ABC, which used channel 2 as its base channel, then 21, 22, 23, 24... so having SBS as channel 28, when the ABC and SBS had sort of parted company, no longer made sense. So the SBS took the 3's range, with 3, 30, 31, 33, etc.
The other channels did similar things. Channel 10 got 1, 10, 11, 12, and now 13. The ABC continued with 2, 20, 21,22, etc. Channel 7 got 7, 70, 71, 72, 73, 74, 76, 78. They have established and then close lots of channels. Channel 9 got 9, 90, 91, 93, 94, 99, so far. SBS got 3 and the 30's, as above.
So Channel 31, the Community channel, got bumped to Channel 44, but kept the name Channel 31 in most places.
With the next reshuffle Channel 31 will lose its licence entirely, and be forced into being an internet only TV channel.
Simple huh? ;D
PS: I may have some historical details wrong, but you get the idea I'm sure.

On a separate note - Yaobing, is there any chance of logo files being included in MC at some stage, and attached per country by service ID or PID?

I would say this is still in the plan. It is just not very high in priority right now.

Our plug-in system might work for that.

FYI - I Submitted the List of TV Channels to YADB and it seemed to take it, but I have no way to see what was actually stored and the Look up from YADB fails.
