Title: It's a holiday here -- Labor Day
Post by: JimH on August 31, 2003, 07:04:39 am
If you're outside the U.S., you probably aren't aware that we have a long weekend here.  Monday is a holiday we call Labor Day.  It's the traditional end of our vacation season so it's a little sad to see it come around each year.  Luckily Christmas shopping starts up right after Labor Day.

So that's why it may be a little quiet on Interact, and that's why there will be NO BUILD on Monday.

And all the dang kids go back to school and the yellow busses hold up traffic so it takes you 20 mins longer to get to work.

When MC 9.1 is released I think they should declare it a National holiday.

You must have been born in the UP, King.  The LP didn't see many days below 72F this summer, with many days in the 90's with high humidity.

well I lived in copper harbor (In The UP) for a spell

really nice up that way (or it was) there was hardly anyone around. at that point in my life there was 1 kid in school there.

if you go out to the point in the summer it is normaly below 65F due to the wind comming off the lake.

good times

if you can dodge the bears your good to go.

Labor Day . . .  is that to honor all the poor women who have been through labor?
Or is it because a 'woman's work is never done' so we do way too much laboring?

Either way, happy Labor Day

Copper Harbor is one of the most beautiful areas in the country, especially when the colors change.  Do you remember Lake Fanny Hooe?  My aunt and uncle honeymooned there some 60 years ago and still talk about swimming in the nude in that lake, as there wasn't another person in sight.

you should come up here in upstate NY, I'll show you some pretty large ice growing fields. Besides, we got the kids back too, here in Ithaca, and they're not going back home at night... They don't even take the yellow bus, they attempt to drive $30K SUVs in a city they don't know where the streets are not even parallel everywhere... Add the homecoming drinking... Tell me about a nightmare... My wife is flying back to Nebraska.

Give us the summer back!
