I use and intend to keep using my chord mojo as my Dac. I use mc21 as the volume control and have my mojo at line output to make use of mc21
Loudness / volume leveling feature. However I miss having a physical volume control. Esp as my mc21 is running on a headless system and I have to remote into the system to skip/ and control volume. Is there any physical box that will control jriver volume, provide skip, stop/., pause buttons as well? I guess one way is the have a cheap iPhone/iPod running jremote on a always on mode. Any other suggestion?

I use a combination of JRemote/Eos on my phone/tablet and cheap infra red windows media centre remote controls as the Intel NUCs use as headless players have built in IR receivers.

How about an IR remote control?

I haven't ever tried one, but what about one of these:
http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-NA16029-Multimedia-Controller/dp/B003VWU2WA
It's a USB volume knob + some other features.

I have used the Griffin PowerMate for a lot of different software, though not yet with JRiver.
The PowerMate is an awesome little device and would be my first go-to product, if I wanted a physical volumen knob for JRiver!
It comes highly recommended.

Thanks all for the recommendation. I will look at the griffin and the Intel IR option. Although as I want a proper volume knob, I think the Griffin fits the bill

It seems it works only with windows 7. I am almost windows 10 and on windows 8 now. So this would not work. It was perfect... sigh....

It works on Windows 8.1, because that is what I use 😁
I don't see any reason why it would not work on Windows 10 as well.

Both look good , but im a tad confused as to whether the Griffin will be for me
I want to control all aspects of my MC 212 experience , Ie control volume , browse , search etc
as if i was using a keyboard , but with a remote . Like i control my tv with a remote
Which would work best for that experience ?
Cheers

I can't speak to the Griffin, but I know there are plenty of ppl here using the standard Windows MCE remote (or clone) to control Theater View / Playback. The buttons are pre-mapped, so no config necessary.
There are also the phone based controllers - JRemote & Gizmo.

When you say the standard windows MCE remote ( or clone ) , to be specific , is that the HP as mentioned ? Or some other option ?
Thanks

Hey blgentry
Can i still get that exact remote somewhere ? Or at least very similar
Thats exactly how i pic myself using JRiver
Cheers

^ Honestly, I haven't looked into buying one, but I've seen links here in the forum to Amazon listings for WMC remotes that are very similar. I would expect them to be widely available.

Any remote that works with Windows Media Center should work. Look for one with a green button.
The wiki has a topic on Remotes.

Thank you
I ve been considering one of the many air mouse/remotes
i realized that i dont need JRiver audio/volume control since i run it all
through my DAC and amp , thats where i control volume
So i just need to do all the other browse functions
Any advice there appreciated
Cheers

Does anyone know about vaporware NEEO? It looks interesting because it looks like it has both hard buttons and touch screen for two way communication over wifi. It's like the perfect combo and there's nothing else like it, except Creetron/AMX($$$$$).
Of course, it's not available yet. However, it would be kewl if JRiver could work with NEEO. I'm guessing there's an opportunity to make JRiver TV much better with the two way communication possibilities (eg. TV channel guide on remote). It seems like JRiver has given up on jremote. I'm okay with that because I've never been totally happy with any tablet remote solution; including my best efforts with Irule. Currently, the best user friendly hard button remotes are still IR with goofy IR blasters (Logitech harmony). IR is a joke when tcp/ip is available. I hope JRiver makes overtures toward NEEO to make a good mutually beneficial partnership. Now, maybe NEEO is plagued with delays because they can't get it together. I don't know. But I think it's worth investigating since JRiver wants to be a real player in the cablecard arena.
Merry Christmas,
Michael.

Ray Super Remote is another possibility. Although I'm not sure whether it works with MCE commands.

I've got a few Intel NUC's around the house and use different remotes that have volume buttons or can be programmed to have them
http://www.amazon.com/iPazzPort-Wireless-Keyboard-Backlight-KP-810-16/dp/B006OW1J1M/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1451019084&sr=8-5&keywords=ipazzport
And the Aerb
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00K768DHY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=od_aui_detailpages08
I prefer the Aerb as it seems more solidly made, the option to turn off the pointer is easy to use while using the buttons (auto shuts off pointed when flipped).

Personally i use a Traktor Kontrol F1 + Bome's Midi translator Pro ;D
Nothing that can't be done with those two.
Also a lot of freedom of configuration with:
dual action on press/release.
Press-> Action 1 -> Release -> Action 2 (Example: Press button = mute sound, release button = unmute sound)
Or action only on press button (or action only on release button)
Plenty of button to use for JRiver and for windows (you can launch windows shortcut file, program etc..)
All with custom color to help you remember which is what.

This is surely cool. But way way overkill for me. Unless its cheap! :-p

I don't see any reason why it would not work on Windows 10 as well.
Reviews and reports I read in forums seem to indicate that it only works in windows 7 and below.. Hmm.. if this works in windows 8.1, its the perfect solution. Did you have to do anything to get it to work? So the knob controls jriver volume. Does the button press work to mute the volume as well?

*scratches my head*
Hmm... Perhaps I am mistaken then, I seem to recall a special installation procedure, but that is about it.. Hmmm.... I used it mainly for iTunes, to control volume, pause and skip tracks.

Continued in the v22 forum section (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,107763.0.html).
This I think this will be all you could ever want for a separate volume dial. ♥
