Title: Klicks with 24 192 material
Post by: Thomaspe on December 30, 2015, 02:02:19 pm
Hey, using my DAC V1 with JRiver on win 10 notebook I have periodic clicks if I use 24/192 high res material. 24/96 Songs are ok.  I did the installation as it is recommended by naim. Has anybody a god idea? I don't know what's wrong... Thanks!

The bit perfect test is without problems

192kHz means increased data throughput which puts more stress on buffers/the interface, incorrectly sized buffers (or an interface glitch) tend to exhibit as this sort of audible glitch

I suggest bumping up the interface buffer size and seeing if it goes away. If not, try a different port. If that fails, consider what else is going on on the computer at that time and/or report back on exactly how it is connected (to what, how)

Also, are you wired or wireless?

I had problems with Hi-Res with wireless, even though it *seemed* like I had enough bandwidth. (There were apparently, however, small dips that I wasn't seeing).

I added a second wireless access point (hardwired into my router) that was physically closer to my laptop (and in line of sight).

All Hi-Res problems went away.

(BTW, I am using a Naim ND5SX).

Are the audio files on your computer or a NAS?
Just checking to ensure there are no wireless links.
If all wired, then I suspect the other poster that mentioned buffer settings is on the right track.

Some computers have multiple USB ports supporting different versions of the USB std.

Make sure you are not using a USB 1.x port. (Latter versions support higher throughput).

The Files are on the computer, no lan/wlan... I've tried USB 2 and 3.
